Some option for injured pilots

Recommended Posts

Flying in an Apache (for example) as the pilot, I get shot (non-fatally), and find there's absolutely nothing I can do (...in a single player, Secom-based random game). I cannot get out of the copter, so I can't get medical attention.

Would be great if there was some solution to that.

You want to magically heal yourself in mid air? Sorry but this sounds real weird.

If you want to heal yourself then you design the secom mission as such wich is to add a medic humwve on standby or/and medic tents or/and medic units in a light squad that you can call in when needed. But if you cant get out of the heli then you must be dead no? In standard ARMA2 you cant be uncouncios AFAIK. With ACE however you can.

Add some more "meat" to your secom mission. Build a base from where you operate. If you have ACE you could check my mission (tear it apart in the editor and check as well) and get some imspiration on how to setup a small base for example.

I suppose he is running BIS's injury system, you know the one, making you incapable of moving and writhing in pain on the ground, except right now he's doing it in the helicopter.

It would at least be appreciated if a teammate could get you out of the vehicle.

Teamswitch can do the trick. There is already a "evacuate casualties" option in standard ArmA2 if you are near to a vehicle with unjureds inside that are unable to helpt themselfs. I dont know what modules this is bound to, but i guess it's in the First Aid: Action or First Aid: Battlefield Clearance module. Edited by Beagle

Think that its an logic AI feature request:

If a player gets heavily wounded and uncouncios in all kind of vehicles - AI should be able to rescue him eg move to a safer place, get him out and give him first aid support.

But for now (patch1.05) even AI medics/corpsman often refuse to take care of wounded units and let them suffer in pain.

Workarounds like scripts/mods/teamswitch shouldnt be the standard rule.

Ah yes your right. But can that really happen inside a vehicle? That you are aware but cant move? I dont think i ever come across it personally cause i cant remember a single time of such an event. Only squirming on the ground but not inside a vehicle.

Maybe cause you can exit a vehicle in that state but then squirm on the ground? I might be wrong ofcourse.

Ya, I didn't mean in mid-air... that WOULD be stupid. :j:

I got shot (as a pilot) in an Apache, and managed to bring the copter down to a safe landing.... but after that, I (seemingly) had no options. Normally, you can call for help (fireteam), but while in a vehicle, it won't get answered (fair enough). You have to get out of the vehicle..... Problem is, it won't let you.

Normally, in the 'writhing' state, you can still crawl ...but, for some reason, can't call for support (ambulance, etc), because you are no longer in charge. In this case, I was squirming/flailing inside the vehicle. I could still pilot the copter (except my view was red and my head was flailing around), but it did not allow me to get out.

Oddly enough, I've managed to get IN a vehicle while wounded... but I can't get OUT.

Yes, I'm using the first aid modules.

Teamswitch seems like it would work, but only had one other team member (the gunner), and he wasn't set as playable.
