ladlon 10 Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) I may be wrong on this, but it seems like part of the problem with the segmented text effect is the SPACES between the words. Listening to it, it seems like if the spaces were shortened, it might flow a bit better. Also, I'm thinking that removing the word 'that' might help too.... Like 'Target... enemy' might be better than 'Target... that... enemy' Just a thought... Seems like something that modders could actually fix. (I do realize that a lot of people are also pointing out that several voices are being used for the same sentence, and that there are inflection/intensity inconsistencies, but that would require re-recording to remedy, I'd think.) sic-disaster 291 Posted January 4, 2010 It actually flowed better in the original Operation Flashpoint to be honest. I dont know what they've done to chop it up like this, because that just sounded way better.
ladlon 10 Posted January 4, 2010 Ya, I was actually watching clips of the older versions... just out of overall curiosity. I did notice that too. Granted, I fully understand that you will probably get SOME choppiness, since it's assembled piece by piece... but at the same time, the inflections of some of the elements are oddly off (compared to the other elements). Still surprised no one has made a replacement pack for that... since it seems (partially) to be an issue of the recordings themselves.
Alex72 0 Posted January 4, 2010 Still surprised no one has made a replacement pack for that... Because it probably takes a huge amount of time to make? To go through all samples and correct them im sure is a big undertaking.
ladlon 10 Posted January 4, 2010 So is doing a total-reconversion mod! ;) Ya, I hear ya... But still, considering how many people find it annoying, I'm surprised there isn't at least one attempted fix mod.
spamurai 3 Posted January 5, 2010 Someone made an adjustment for ArmA 1. The AI spoke without the pauses and they used sentence structures that were abbreviated better. It sounded better, but better still, it was more efficient and worked well. Instead of: Enemy...Man...At...Five...Hundred...Meters It became: Man-At-Five hundred-Meters Instead of: I'm...At....Grid....Zero...Two....SIX....Niner It became: Zero-Two-Six-Niner Aside from sounding better, it worked better because you could issue orders much faster without the prolonged delay while waiting for long speech strings to complete before issuing the new command.
