Mr Cousens began his career in gaming in 1981 and has worked at Activision and Acclaim.

Recent games from Codemasters include Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Fuel.

Why on earth are games 'figures' even thought of being in this list?! And as for Codemasters chief getting not only an honour, but a CBE at that!! what the hell?! Where extacly does he fall into one of these...

-making a highly distinguished, innovative contribution in his or her area of activity

Almost, but not quite as bad as hairdresser Vidal Sassoon getting an honour last year along with three lollipop ladies and a retired school janitor. Not joking.

The government send in a list of potential candidates to the Palace. It's not really down to the Queen or the Royal Family who gets them as they're not elected representitives of the nation, it has to be done by those who are elected, aka the government.

Sadly as we all know, most governments are out of touch with reality and live in a world where mediocraty is king. Codemasters sums this way of thinking up to a T.

Codemasters makes lots of different games, just because we don't like a particular title doesn't mean the bloke who runs it all doesn't deserve an honour. Running a company selling exports in the UK isn't exactly easy.

I am pretty sure the government sees the value of the gaming industry and is either wanting to simply praise the top hats or is trying to woo them in some way.
