31st Normandy mod for ArmA2: WW2

Work still continues on improving units, adding units and fixing bugs...

Update: (3/14/10)

The update today contains fixes for the older style infantry, addresses an issue where the bofors gunner could not be killed. Resolves a texture issue with the 8.8cm flak 36. And addresses the issue of a few aircraft that were not attacking ground units or other aircraft.

***Official wiki with intructions on scripts for mission builders, all classes, and server keys will be released with the 1.00 versioning after the beta build is complete.

NOTE: This mod is a four phase release mod. 1.00 being the first phase.

I really hope those aren't misplaced decimal points, because a map of that scale sounds excellent. In fact, for ArmA 2 I find it just mind-boggling.

no it's not an error, that's correct. I think in arma1 it took about 25-30 minutes to fly over the channel in a ju52.

Will u cooperate with other ww2 addon makers? On ur arma1 previous project u worked with FF studios and T roc? I know T roc has already show stuffs on arma 2 and that someone planned to port the FF's bf109.

Were the V2 launchers deployed in normandy?

-german battle ship Scharnhorst

-Catalina

-p38 with various loadouts

-11 different trench models

-V1 & V2 rockets, with launch rails, launch bunker and launch pad

-torpedos

-naval mines

-Bomb package that includes several bombs including the grand slam and tall boy bombs

-Country flag set which includes 17 diff flags

Those lines caught my eye. We are actually going to be able to attack a german battleship from the air? Also is it drivable? My god man... This is all too much for me. *Heart Attack*

This mod is clearly biased to the allied side. Just look the listing of the infantry divisions there. But for the german it just says german infantry.

What types of infantry?

What types of aircraft?

What types of tanks?

I always cooperate with other ww2 mod makers. Troc is providing the armor this go around.

Pics of the trenches will come as soon as I can drag this island off my hard drive and into the game world. Right now it doesn't want to cooperate, but I will force it to.

Fallschirmjager & Werhmacht of different variations.

We had a few 109's, ju52 & HE111 before.

Stug's, Tigers, Panther's, PZ2,PZ3,PZ4's of different variations

This is a clip of some of the rocket action in arma1. You'll get the same basic stuff in arma2. We didn't get a chance to distribute quiet a bit of our stuff for arma1 but it will be in the release for arma2.

In this clip you can see some of the trench stuff that we made for arma1 that were porting to arma2. Again more stuff we never released that will be in the arma2 mod package.

Yeah we tested the warfare mission in arma1 on the map. We found that a stout server with a fat pipe could handle about 30 towns. We found the PvP action was slow until enemy units were found, then things progressed quickly as bombers and aircraft became available to spawn from the aircraft factories. Then it becomes a game of base defense or hide and seek with the base. And on a large map like this, once the base is moved, it's a whole new ball game. Games can go on for days.

Were not quiet sure how many towns the newer warfare modules for arma2 can handle before crashing out. But we will find out. If all else fails we can make a CTI mission that will allow teams to capture all the towns on the map or a percentage of them before a victory is issued. There will be many towns. - * Of course nothing historically accurate. We plan on using the real life town names. They will not look the same as they did. The goal of the map is to make it multiplayer friendly( high FPS ) which means cutting down on as much eye candy as possible. Also have to make it ai friendly which means bridges are evil :) And cutting back on objects that hamper the ai's ability to move.

On the flip side of the token, for those mission builders or people that desire dense vegetation and clutter, we are going to make available all of the objects in the editor so you can drop them in anytime right down to the last blade of grass.

Good to hear some news from RIP, I loved the scale of the Armed Assault map, it really made sense to use transport(both air, ground and sea) for the infantry in it.

Were just excited we get to have naval units with large anti-aircraft weapons that can surprise airborne transports and make life difficult for them.

yep Rip, played alot of normandy warfare for arma1 on your server. transport aircraft are both fun and required! need good fighter cover or you are meat. was big fun.

We were talking about a dedi server somewhere in Europe this go around since this mod attracts a lot of Euro's.

oh yeah i loved playing warfare with the mod in arma 1 on that big map! although it took about 15-20 minutes to drive with your tank platoon to the next town :D

there are much more things... for both sides,and actually there are more than 2 sides ;).

and aqu has some nice stuff in progress.

btw, Rip31st something like the artillery aiming computer from NouberNou would be useful for the mod.

maybe its possible to make the artillery strikes in warfare working this way. its much more realistic than spawning the rounds at the target position.

Do you know If you're going to make it compatible with ACE2 yet?

Are you thinking of adding custom made civilians/resistance to fit in with the Normandy setting, where they would have been most active.
