n0oo7 10 Posted December 12, 2009 I am using an asus g71gx rx05 gaming laptop nvidia gtx 260m intel dual core 2.5 ghz with g35 headphones (digital sound so no sound cards) and when i'm running Arma 2 i can play but i keep hearing theese annoying static sounds. it seems like i have coroupted sound files or sumethin, i dnt know but i dnt like it at all. can anyone hellp me i can submit dxdiag upoun request. Could be sound drivers so try install the latest, could be the game itself so try change settings both in game and out of game. Last resort is to re install Arma 2 .. turin turambar 0 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) I have the same (or almost the same) problem. I use my mobo (Gigabyte p35c-dsr3 1.1) for the sound. Realteak HD, in other words. Both in vainilla (1.04) and last beta. Well, in the beta i don't have ANY sound. I played the game three days ago without problem! Something has happened in these three days. I have a strong static sound when the game plays a sound effect. It does the voices and the music, but it gives a very distorted sound with the f/x, like running or firing or the birds singing. I tried reboot, nothing. I tried reinstall, nothing. I switched from Win7 64 bits (my default os) to Win xp 32 bits and it was fixed! It's something about my system. As i say, it was working fine a few days ago. The last thing i changed was the installation of teamspeak 2, it installed some audio codecs. (i alrady uninstalled, of course). Also, Pinnacle Studio. edit: fixed?? i just put the 1.04 patch after the reinstallation. Still i dont know how the problem surged before, as i already had the 1.04 version. sh0nuff613 10 Posted June 30, 2010 I just got the game with the latest patches from Steam. I, too, am suffering from extreme static while just doing the tutorial. Also running Win7 x64, RealtekHD onboard sound.. Even on the rifle range, the AI sounds like he is shouting at me all distorted, tried messing with volume, no fix. Slyder73 10 Posted June 30, 2010 I had the same issue, running an Asus board with build in Realtek HD sound. I installed the newest DirectX (Not sure if this was part of the fix, but I"ll put it here). I also had to go into my Realtek sound setup and do some fiddling with the input settings for mic and speakers and remove digital audio something or other. Sorry, can't remember the details as it was late at night and after a lot of fiddling. The settings change fixed the issue I was having with the effects sounds being all distorted. -RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted July 1, 2010 Everything with Arma2 vanilla has been fine for months. Even applied latest full patch, and all was fine. Installed OA, and heard the sound of some guy screaming at me even after I shutdown the game. Just windows running, no apps in taskman, but still is the sound of somebody explaining a flashlight at full volume. Now I have no sound in OA AT ALL. Arma2 is now static and garbled. When you fire an M16 is sounds like shooting a bolt action rifle at VERY HIGH VOLUME WITH echo and distortion. Windows 7 64bit USB headphones and USB Surround sound. Latest drivers latest directx. guys, seriously.... seriously, I love BIS, but this stuff is amateur. After every major patch or release, I have to fiddle with stuff, reinstall, jump though hoops wearing a ballet outfit to get stuff to run. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Bulldogs 10 Posted July 1, 2010 Try changing the sampling rate in game, you may also need to change your sampling rate in Windows as it sounds like Arma is attempting to use a sampling rate that your headphone drivers (the ones in your USB device) can't handle. Goto Control Panel -> Sound (if you don't see sound change the "view by" option to small or large icons in the top right corner) -> Double click on your default audio device -> click the advanced tab -> change the default format to 16 bit, 48000 Hz If you are still having problems with sound after than then go back into those audio settings and untick "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
