Idiots Who Drive - Don't Be An Idiot

Recommended Posts

I agree Student pilot. It's the person that needs to be real with the dangers. Some people do not have the multitasking ability to talk and drive. I know when I'm tired, I can't. But we don't need more laws telling us what we can't do. Awareness and self honesty have kept me out of trouble, a bit o' grace doesn't hurt either, lol.

-Total- as now you see - simply your country has lack of law restrictions, that other countries have

not only in this area, in other areas too, that for people from other countries are "natural" , simply your country regulates completely other things, but it would be offtop

i don't want offtop about "Sicko" , civil law, children care, nazi freedom etc.

but look at example of bumpers in trailers

i remember one program in TV:

some people in US died beheaded by trailer, when their car get under trailer

families of those who died wanted transportation organizations to issue bumpers on sides of trailers

US transport associations heads told "it is nowhere in world" "it would cost a lot" "who will pay milions" "senseless idea" "noone use it in world" etc.

well, i can tell you, in most of world countries - you cannot produce/register/use trailer WITHOUT such side bumpers

so ???

what they said in US transportation owners association ? "noone in world use it " "nowhere present" etc.

so how does it meet other world law ?

if for someone his own house and barn is whole world and he say opinion of others only looking at his own home... you have problems

how many beheaded by trailers in US ? how many of would be alive if US had the same technical requirement than we have ?

like we have forbidden to talk by mobile while driving (unless not have loud speaker)

unless you have such law, anyone can drive chating by phone and you can die on road

Vilas, I'm getting pretty sick of you turning every thread into some kind of anti-US vent...no matter what the topic.

How are the mods allowing this guy to go on trolling and inflaming all the threads in OT...just a matter of time till he spreads this to the general ARMA thread.

PS...you avatar picture is annoying as hell

Because otherwise he'd ragequit and stop making addons.

Because Vilas commonly has good points and provides a unique view from outside typical western culture. He also doesn't seem to make posts that complain about other people's avatar and provides nothing to the conversation.

That being said, I am thankful for all you guys who don't allow yourself to be distracted while driving. I don't talk or text on the phone while i'm driving. Thank you for making my life safer.

Personally I feel, everybody should be allowed to carry a cold dead fish in their car.

Follow'd up with it is perfectly acceptable and legal that when someone does something stupid, that you are allowed to walk up to that person and slap them with same dead fish. Then continue through-out your day. Not only driving, but anything.

Like standing in line (queue) at the theaters for popcorn for 20 min, and when it's the guys turn in front of me, where only then, after the guy at the counter asks what he wants, does he begin to think what he wants. I pull out my fish, and slap him. Then go watch my movie.

what sort of fish?

A large trout. :D

The people in waiting lines without deciding what they want really piss me off too. In my experience it's mostly women who do this. They get to the front, then stand there humming and harring, changing their mind every five seconds and then go with the first thing they said - which was five minutes ago.

This guy pretty much nailed it: John Pinette - "Get out of the line".

...as is listening to a radio, eating food, drinking liquids, talking to your passenger(s), thinking about the day's events, fumbling around for cruise control, glancing at the scenery going by, monitoring your speedometer, listening for strange car noises, adjusting the climate controls, ect.

Texting on a phone I can see as bad, but talking on a phone? How is that any different than getting into a conversation with a passenger? And don't tell me that talking to passengers is dangerous. It is probably more dangerous to focus solely on the road and get extremely bored/tired/inattentive than it is to break up the monotony with a conversation or two. I use my cell phone when needed as I drive, and I treat it no differently than in in-person conversation. If events warrant my paying attention to the road, I put the conversation on hold until the situation clears itself.

Awareness and self honesty have kept me out of trouble, a bit o' grace doesn't hurt either, lol.

Can't agree more. I, myself, sometimes answer the phone while drivng and sometimes don't. It depends on my assesment of the situation on the road. Just like every other action I take during driving a car. Sometimes I won't talk to my passenger sometimes I will. Sometimes my girlfriend tells me: "Look, what a nice landscape". And I answer: "Sorry, I can't look right now", and I miss it.

It's a shame that even in our country we still don't have more badly needed law restrictions (I mean those forbiding - as Studen Pilot enumerated - listening to a radio, eating food, drinking liquids, talking to your passenger(s), thinking about the day's events, fumbling around for cruise control, glancing at the scenery going by, monitoring your speedometer, listening for strange car noises, adjusting the climate controls. It all should be forbiden. And then it surely won't be the case that you "can die on road". And the peace will come to the Earth and the global warming will be stopped, etc...

Seriously, you can't force everything by the law. You've got to think for yourself. And by making laws or traffic rules that almost noone respects you only promote disobeyng the laws. (It's just like some tax laws in my conutry that everyone breakes because they are ridiculus and breaking of which is usually not punished). When I see a 50 kph speed limit for a hundred of times on a straight wide road (and see nobody is respecting the limit) I don't believe the speed limits are there for a reason of security and I don't trust the next one is worth respecting. (Don't draw to far-reaching conclusions from what I'm saying, about what I think about drivers in my country. I think they're rather bad and often irresponsible. But making a new, more restrictive law won't make them responsible.)

Found this clip which IMHO should be showed to any driver around the world. To be honest, there's one short sequence i started to cry (i don't care to say this as the 40yr old man i am). I don't want to spoiler too much but if you're sensible regarding babies and maybe have own children, maybe it's a good idea not to watch this clip.
