some ai problems

Recommended Posts

k i have a couple of problems:

first is: how do i make the ai controlled choppers have lights on?

it never occured to me when playing my maps that the choppers i use for insertions can have their lights on, but today in a night time op for some reason one of the hueys had its lights on while the other didnt, and i must say it looked pretty cool. although i always play that map at night it never turned them on again and i havent figured out why it turned them on nor how to control this, so there it is.

second problem is i've tried to make a mission in which a faction defends a building, with cover, sandbags, bunkers, static defenses, etc, while the other tries to assault it.

i scripted the units to spawn on the rooftop and other storeys of this building, behind cover also scripted to spawn x meters above the ground. to make it short all these barricaded units immediately go prone when fired upon once and do not ever stand up again, basically staying prone behind cover until overrun.

i tried to group them up, i tried giving guard waypoints, tried combat, safe, and even reckless behaviour but even with that they just go prone and stay down.

can anyone help me with this? AI is proving itself quite a useless ally when im confronted alone by the waves of insurgents :/

Hi,

If I remember correctly I think the light on/off is related to the chopper pilot behaviour. They will turn them on if they are in CARELESS or SAFE behaviour and off in the other behaviours.

As for units staying where and the way you want them you probably should use some commands like _unit setUnitPos "MIDDLE" to force them to crouch position and _unit disableAI "MOVE" to stop them from moving.

Check here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:Scripting_Commands_ArmA2 for more infos about the commands.

Hope this is what you need

Cheers
