A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta!

Recommended Posts

One question:

Does ACE disable the radio group chatter? Because while using ACE2 i cant hear my radio commands nor do i hear the secops module task description. They display as text but no sound is coming?

If that is a feature, how can one disable it? Couldnt find anything in the config :)

(I think i remember the old ACE having it optional, hope it is not hardcoded this time)

@Romeo_NL: That's a common issue with the official arma2 beta, please make sure your "Start In" is set to arma 2 and not arma2\beta or mix beta with non beta :D

OK this is taking the piss now. I have downloaded all three ACE, ACEX CBA. I went through and extracted all files into pbos. Then made sure they are all in the right place. And my shortcut is fine. But absolutely nothing happens in game. what gives?
Not enough if you use the standard install files.

http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/six-arma-updater#Usage

Together with "Lazy Mode" gets you setup in like 3 minutes: http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/ace-mod2/Lazy

this is my command line:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\beta\arma2.exe" -noSplash -noFilePatching -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX...as before it doesnt work,i cant see what the problem is??do you?

the error is :compiling pixel shader

i've compared my command line with this one> http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA2:_Error_compiling_pixel_shader

And cant make out the big difference

Yes it should say -mod=beta;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX

Need some help. Unable to install ACE because i keep getting this message from the six-updater.

"The program seems to be already running. Please wait/close the other application first.

If you believe this is in error, please delete C:/Program Files/Six-Updater/six-updater.pid"

I've uninstalled and reinstalled still same message and can't find the .pid file to delete.

I thought it was Shift+V. no?

See what I don't get why when I try these commands, "V", as in vault over a fence takes precedent. Is no one else having this problem?

Has anyone been able to tow things with the tow tractor? It says Attach in the action menu but nothing happens. I've tried all over heli's and a few planes but no location seems to help.

Firstly, thanks to Sickboy and all of his fellow cohorts from ACE for a brilliant, brilliant mod.

I had some trouble installing the mod at first, mainly due the fact that I'd downloaded the Six Installer yesterday and tinkered with it before ACE was released. (My bad). I kept getting the PID message, so after a swift hunt down and deletion of the offending file, it all worked great, but then I kept getting the 'Include file x\cba\addons\script_macros_common.http not found'. After trying a few things (like deleting and then reinstalling the @CBA file, I manually put the 7zip of CBA into the Six Installer - voila! One complete ACE mod.

Just want to say thanks to all involved (Sickboy, you must be so tired by now after jockeying this thread all night)! I'd imagine that this forum must be so messy today, but all of the useful info will probably be syphoned down over the next few days. The updater is such a good idea. It will save so much time in the future, especially if other mod makers jump on board and update their mods automatically too. The most boring thing about modded PC games is having to check constantly to see if they have been updated. This should definitely cut down on some of the long term conusion and keep everyone on the same page. Fiddly at first granted, but very good for the long term.

Thanks, DA

EDIT: The most confusing thing ever for mods was installing PC coded mods for X3: The Reunion onto the Mac version. This is no way as difficult as that ever was!!

I'll ask again...

Could someone tell me what the parametres of the APFSDS for the T-90 are in the mod?...ie its hit factors etc.I'd like to match the ArmourPack to the ACE T-90's.Would that be possible?I could just guess and adjust ,but that would take trial and error.A set of numbers from ACE people would be quicker.Tanks

Check your userconfig\ACE\ace_clientside_config.hpp and comment out #define ACE_NOVOICE

@[DirTyDeeDs]-Ziggy-

Please select option 2 from the launcher, and try again.

How do you use bandages? Thanks!

The wounding system isn't integrated yet.

It is. But it is module activated.

I should probably be more precise, the medical items etc in the mod apparantly isn't made to work yet, the wounding system is, according to shacktacer on server.

Does someone else think that making sandbags could be better if it was a bit faster?

I appreciate the realism in real time values, but I think the time should be compressed a tiny bit for the sake of gameplay.

Real operations can last for days, in Arma the timespan is usually a bit shorter.

The items work, you use them by examining the wounded soldier with the interaction menu (Right windows), this will give you options to use items on that person.

Keep in mind the system is in an early stage and several bits aren't working or working properly yet.

I had the same issue. I fixed it by copying the three archive files to the updater folder and running the update again. Still have a load of texture errors which seem to be caused by missing files...

Great job so far.

The Updater seems to be a really nice tool, once you get it working for the fisrt time (and this might be hard for some).

Love the Chemlights, lauchers and CSW.

I know its just the first release and its just a beta ,but the mod must be more user-friendly.

Thanks a lot for your message.

Things are tough atm but in the grand scheme of things I think we've made a good step, and with the help of feedback, and renewed motivation (quite a public to develop apps for now :)), I'm sure we can root out most if not all issues and usability problems.

Been on the job since my last work day last Thursday. Back to work tomorrow, so almost time for bed :sleepy:
