Meanstreak 10 Posted November 26, 2009 Hi, I'm new to this forum and have only been playing Arma2 online for a few weeks now. I have a question to pose regarding losing connection to a server, reconnecting and then having to play as opposing team. This happened to me today. After losing connection on a full server due to a CTD (we all know about that don't we ) I had to wait for a slot to become available... I rejoined but had to play on the different side. Then came all the shouts for me to be kicked because I was a "Team Swapper" Now I am a mature gamer and consider myself a team player, I have no wish to cheat, play dirty or gain an advantage by unfair means of any kind. It was suggested that I would start attacking the base but I have a bad memory and couldn't even remember where it was anyway. So, what do you do sit around waiting for a place to open on the side that you initially played on or use the only 1 such free slot available?
Beagle 674 Posted November 26, 2009 Happpened to me to, and I can fully understand this. After Loggin in you still know were the Bases are...ant that makes the game pointless. I will vote for kicking teams swappers all the time...it happens much to often, even then when there are still slots empty....and short after you are bombed to doom...not funny. That is usually the case and I have seen it quite often, some losers will go to any lengths to try and be winners. If I get disconnected and can't get back on the same time I go to another server, I don't particularly want to be seen as a cheat. My memory of base locations sucks but the other players can't take that for granted.
enforcer1975 0 Posted November 27, 2009 It possible to block a player if he already joined one side ( having to create an account for mission duration is one possibility or giving a black screen if the player switched ). Maybe Benny and other Warfare mission makers should consider putting this in the mission. People are fair enough to play on the same side when they drop from a server...but there are certain as**oles who don't care making the game pointless as stated above. There are also enough morons switching sides only to rape the bases and tell away the positions to the opposite team.
anfiach 10 Posted November 28, 2009 Why are people hanging out at the base anyway? IIRC you can relocate as well. The real problem I see with this kind of thinking is the assumption that someone could not find the base on their own (though I'm sure some tards will side switch to kill you). Honestly the reaction is just as childish as the behavior that provokes it. Better to kick those that commit the offense rather than just anyone that happens to switch sides for whatever reason. brit~XR 0 Posted November 28, 2009 So, what do you do sit around waiting for a place to open on the side that you initially played on or use the only 1 such free slot available? Supid question if you ask me. common sense would be to wait for a free slot on the side you was on instead of team swaping. I will kick a teamswapper if he supid enough to join the other join instead of wait for free slot. Was only the other day that a guy named red last connection and rejoined and team swaped. I was admin so he wasnt kicked stright away then 10min later our base with hq was attacked by him in a mi17 fully armed with 120 rockets. By team swaping he ended up attacking a base which was once his base. So dont exspect to stay on server to long if you team swap
gossamersolid 150 Posted November 30, 2009 I have this issue A LOT in my warfare server. People don't understand the fact that if you are on one team you KNOW where all the bases are. So if you go swapping to the other team, you know where your new enemy's bases are. Then they don't understand why they are getting kicked. The golden rule is to join the same team regardless, if there are no slots left, you wait. We let this rule slide ONCE and then we had somebody come and mark ALL of the enemy bases. It ended up ruining a really good match.
anfiach 10 Posted November 30, 2009 Well Meanstreak you have your answer. If you lose your spot, find a new game to play.
