New Sound Mod in the making, slowly but surely

There is CSM2 v104i for A2 and there is a CSM OA version so placing files of both into one @CSM2_CO/AddOns folder should be good to get all sounds.

I posted the link as it goes to the OA version which has BAF which is optional, unless you have BAF then you dont need to download it.

Hes asking if he needs both and my answer was no, you only need the first one which is this one:

Okay, this is all too confusing. I have CO and BAF. What do I need to download to have replaced ArmA 2 sounds, OA sounds, and BAF sounds?

If you want CSM2 then get this

Unless you have BAF which is a DLC (BAF is British Armed Forces), DLC is Downloadable content.

CSM2 sounds for the BAF Expansion Pack is not required, so unless you want BAF then get that too but based on what your asking you dont need BAF,

again unless you want it.

Now we are having conflicting reports?

2 out of 3 say just @CSM2 & @CSM2BAF, 1 out of 3 says @CSM2, @CSM2OA, & @CSM2BAF.

Gah! If only we had official documentation!

See, I would try out both options if they were anything but sound mods. To try to find a difference between the sounds with regard to OA would be maddening.

Dude!

Just pick one, thats what I said in my post, only one you need if you want is CSM2,

all the other ones the other guys are listing are OPTIONAL, they are NOT required to run CSM2.

I have CO and BAF

So for CO You need the CSM2

if you want your BAF sounds changed.

So as we are all saying get:

Get both, thats it. Install the CSM2, then the BAF sounds.

Usage documentation of CSM2 at armaholic.com:

CSM2 works together with ACE2 @ACEX_SM and the default configuration is set to

override @ACEX_SM sounds as detailed below.

As both mod's are beta and still being developed, further support and changes

will be added.

To configure CSM2 to override ACEX_SM Weapon classes (default setting), the:

#define CSM2_ACEX_SM

statement is included in the client configuration file:

...\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\userconfig\CSM2\csm2_clientside_config.hpp

If you are using ACE 2 but do not use @ACEX_SM sounds, or you wish to use

CSM2 standalone or with another sound mod, then change the above statement

to a comment by preceding it with '//' as follows:

// #define CSM2_ACEX_SM

CSM2 will then no longer check for @ACEX_SM dependencies and will start

without the popup message.

I was hoping that there was going to be an update to this sound mod. It's still one of my favorites. I just wish they would fix that reverb sound from the M4 Carbine. I use that weapon more than most.:(

arrghh, I just got my ears cleaned out and I can hear as if with a pair of new ears, like, when I wrestle a plastic bag it sounds like I am running my hands through a bag of steel marbles, I can hear the cloth on the pants of someone walking near by. Now all the sounds, well, some, have to be redone because they sound too trebly, like, too many highs, and some have crakling noise, ugh.. I am going through them now.

Now, is there anyone out there that knows a bit with the config? I need someone who might know or who can help. I have been having some time trying to match up the explosion sounds and get them all to work properly.

CSM2OA is replacing A2+OA? or just OA?

I plan to get them to replace both.....if I can just get a Beta out first for A2 and for AA1 . I had a lot of material I was working on a flashdrive that doesn't seem to work anymore but fortunately I saved my work onto my laptop just in case, the problem was was that most of the recent work I did several weeks back were not saved., But fortunately I was working on too much so little had to be recovered, *sigh*

I saw that the mod was incredibly authentic from distance, what are the weapon sounds like when fired by hand??? Real sounds would have cut of ratios because of the microphone, but it would be pretty awesome for it to still sound good. Anyways, just checking up... I love this mod you've got going. I can't wait for more updates and previews!

I'm new to Arma 2/CO and CSM2 Mod is the 1st addon I've added. Sounds really nice but I have one 'teeny' issue (bug?). Not a showstopper by any means but I thought you might want to know since otherwise my install is a 'vanilla' Arma 2/CO (ver 1.59).

When I launch CO the 1st thing that pops up is an error msg that states:

Addon 'csm2_c_wep_mg' requires addon 'acex_sm_c_sound_wep_mg'.

I click 'OK' and off I go with no other problems other than I suspect my mg (machine guns?) sound is BIS.

i had your sound mod for armed assault installed for years, literally. it was one of the first mods i downloaded and i never changed it once. i've got one hell of a frankenstein sound mod now, bits taken from nearly every mod out there !! lookin forwards to ur next release. just found your UKF sounds aswel and they are top notch. keep it up mate

Can anyone here tell me how to get CSM2 1.04i working properly. I have tried to recreate this scenario in the editor but the AH64D missile sounds remain the default ones.

What did this guy do to make the explosion sound so cool?

Any help would be much appreciated, and Chammy... keep up the great work!
