leefost 10 Posted September 22, 2009 I'm having major issues with the lighting in this game, when i move the screen will go completley dark the take a few seconds to readjust and somtimes it will go bright white as though I am looking at the sun. I have 2 4870x2's running in crossfire. I have heard this game only uses one gpu but even if this is the case it should not be giving me such an issue. I am not very experienced when it comes to fixing issues so any clear instructions on how to fix this would be appreciated although I do find it quite poor that I should have to be having this problem at all as in its current state the game is unplayable. I had this problem: What I did. Make a copy of arma2.exe in the same folder. Rename this copy to crysis64.exe Send this to your desktop as a shortcut and run it. I know........how the heck will this make any difference.... Just try it.

Hi, Just check the option in ATi tray (right click) : select your card -> "CrossfireX Settings" -> "Show CrossfireX status icon" You will see that if you rename Arma2.exe, then CrossfireX will be disabled in game (but acivated in ATi Control Center). So, you play as if you disable "crossfire" option, and you don't have the problem. I have the same lighting issues as leefost on 3 computers when Crossfire is activated : - 2 x 3870 / Athlon X2 6400+ / 4Gb RAM / Vista X64 SP2 - 2 x 3870x2 / Phenom X4 9950 / 8Gb RAM / Windows 7 X64 RC - 2 x 4870x2 / Phenim X4 955 / 8Gb RAM / Vista X64 SP2 Arma2 is patched with 1.04 ATi Catalyst 9.9 or 9.10 Edited October 24, 2009 by mykill
kklownboy 43 Posted October 24, 2009 and then i dont have the issue ... If i look at the sun at certain times of the day i can get a uber bright issue. I use HDRPrecision=32; in my arma2.cfg. If you do use the rename/crysis.exe (crysis64.exe is no go) then you HAVE to use the -winxp flag in your shortcut string.
mykill 10 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) Hi kklownboy, I tried what you suggest (rename to crysis.exe and use -winxp), and it works, but it's not really clean... I modify arma2.cfg to "HDRPrecision=32", but i didn't see a real difference ? (before, value was set to "8") Finally I disabled Crossfire in the ATi Control center, and then, I loose the benefit of 4 GPU, but as the X2 cards have an internal bridge, Arma 2 is able to use 2 GPU. So, it is possible to play at 1920x1080 with one 4870x2 (catalyst 9.10), Phenom X4 955, 8GB RAM, Vista X64 SP2. (no overclock) Just waiting for a fix concerning crossfire to play on less powerfull computers. Edited October 25, 2009 by mykill
Club-On 0 Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Man get back on your crossfire setting. the problem is very easy to resolve : In the game setting set the video memory to : 1 gpu : normal/high 2 gpu : high/very high 3 gpu : default 4 gpu : default I had the same problem with 3 5870's in tri-crossfireX, just set video memory to default restart the game and it's gone.
