dannyboyee82 10 Posted September 20, 2009 Ok, first of all Hi to everyone here. Secondly, congratulations to BI for making such an awesome game! After about a week of having the game I have finally managed to get my settings correct so I have best overall quality and performance. Suprisingly, I set all settings on 'very high' and 'view distance 3500', this gave me the best overall performance/quality balance. I have however disabled PhysX, and set my image preference to 'performance' in NVIDIA control panel in order to achieve this. My system is as follows; Win XP Home 32bit Intel E8400 overclocked at 3.6ghz 4gb Corsair Dominator DDR2 XFX 8800GTX ASUS P5Q Pro Samsung 22" (1680x1050) I know, I can't believe my 8800GTX is still pulling it off either! It is testament to how unbelievable a card it was and still is. Now, throughout the week I have had random crashes to desktop, with no error message, only the standard 'do you wish to send error report to Microsoft' garbage. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can start solving this problem? My patience is gradually wearing out! ---------- Post added at 05:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:33 PM ---------- Just to confirm, I have the latest drivers (190.62) for the 8800GTX installed. vasmkd 12 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Similar to my system what scores are u getting in ARMA mark? I'm getting about 3400 CPU standard 3700 with CPU @ 3.6Ghz Edited September 20, 2009 by vasmkd
dannyboyee82 10 Posted September 20, 2009 Pretty similar systems, how are you finding the graphics settings? I have not bothered with Arma Mark yet, might take a look at some point. Are you having any crash issues?
vasmkd 12 Posted September 20, 2009 No crashing Its running pretty good but if i can max the setting from medium to very high id'e be in heaven I run it in winxp 32-bit, runs almost as good in Win7 22" samsung monitor @ 1680x1050 everything medium except vid memory very high AA medium view distance 2400 190.62 drivers I'm about to play with the image performance setting in control panel Let u know how it goes Oh do u have AA enabled? dannyboyee82 10 Posted September 20, 2009 Yeah, AA is at very high, everything is maxed out. If you disable your PhysX in the NVIDIA control panel and set image preference to performance you should see decent gains. I also heard that if you are running a Creative XF-i card disabling the XF-i Crystalizer helps too. It didn't work for me, but it may for you. Good luck and yeah, I'd be interested to see if any of that helps.
vasmkd 12 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Ok i just tried it It ran ok with everything very high but a little choopy in editor in cherarus with lots of AI/vehicles/Helicopters etc about 80 marines attacking me supported by 6 x m1a2 tusks, 3 x APC's, 3 x humvees, 4x AH-1Z, 2 x huey, 1 x MH-60 My side has about 30 AI 2x t-90 2x brdm 2 3 x ka-52 2 x machine guns nests 2 x igla launchers 1 x empty t-90 With FRAPS This gave me avg 25fps with my previous settings i got 20fps with everything maxed with everything very high @distance @3400 I got good results with these new settings, very stable fps averaging between 22 and 31fps fraps in this editor mission Textures = medium vid memory = very high AA = medium AF = medium view distance = 3000 everything else on high Still going to play with it to see what happens Ok iv'e settled to this and it runs very well and smooth: view distance 2800 vid memory = very high texture detail = medium (with very high i noice sometimes textures lag in loading) AA = medium AF = medium view distance = 2814 everything else on high post processing off I set control panel to balanced in 3d settings (road markings look bad with performance) even if had everything on high/very high All looks good now and runs smooth and i put the CPU @ factory 3ghz as it is smooth and no need to run at 3.6ghz unless i'm going to add even more units etc or find some mission thats goes choopy Edited September 20, 2009 by vasmkd Add results
dannyboyee82 10 Posted September 20, 2009 Good job, I think the trick is to just stick with the settings now. I've played around with mine so much recently that I'm sick and tired of it!
Bulldogs 10 Posted September 21, 2009 Aiight, let's try to keep this to troubleshooting and not general discussion. Try disabling AA and see if you still get the CTD's.
dannyboyee82 10 Posted September 21, 2009 Yeah, I'll try it but I have a feeling that it doesn't matter what graphic settings I use.. it just seems to close after about 10 - 15 mins of playing time. I'll report back in a bit, see if it helps. Cheers.
