New patch 1.04

Recommended Posts

It seems the 59025 poor performance during action followed this one. Would be expected i guess, but i wonder why this happens? Better AI? Then i can take the loss of performance.

Just tested a mission i made and with the 59008 i got very good performance during action. With 1.04 it gets very stuttery during that same part. So much i can barely see whats on the screen when turning around. Not that i loose a lot of FPS, but the screen just flicker almost. Combo loss of FPS and i think it must be something with the mouse.

I have done a lot of tests with VSYNC on/off, Pre Rendered Frames 1-6 etc. Will test some more and see if there is a solution i can find on my end. Maybe it is the extra care of the mouse that causes this. If it is - im afraid 59008 was better - for me.

Cant be easy to be BIS atm with this silly mouse thing.

Alex

Thanks BIS for the new patch so soon! However it all seems to be geared towards MP which not all of us play, so have we gained anything for SP mode? :)

*edit - downloaded & tried to install, got an error message saying "could not install, ArmA 2 corrupted or has been removed from the computer"

I havent altered anything other than putting some downloaded missions in my single missions folder, & the game works fine, what gives?

Did you noticed any AI and Performance improvement?

Any "news" about the gameplay?

I've read the log but I found only (a lot of) fixes (this is appreciated, however)

Umm... are you running the Steam version of ARMA2?

Some nice fixes in this patch. But, disappointed that there is no difference or increase in performance at all.

What's your operating system? XP, Vista, or 7?

Nah Im running it from the disc chief, I havent changed anything & would rather not have to uninstall & reinstall the game again to get the patch to work

I found one bug right in the first test of a vehicle.

If your are commander of a vehicle, you have this three infoboxes on the upper part of the screen. On the left side, there is the vehicle status, in the middle the radar and a weapon info is shown on the right.

With the new patch, the speed of the vehicle is show over the vehicle status and on the right side the fuel status is shown under the weaponinfo.

Is this a bug or a new feature of the Patch ?

As much as I'm anxious for it to show up on Steam, I'm not gonna rush them. Remember the 1.03 patch? Lets hope this time around it isn't a 4gb d/l again.

It's so easy to prepare 4 GB update, but not fourty-times smaller one :)

So whatever happened to the city optimizations that were supposed to be in this patch...

-edit- Just tested Chernarus in the editor, it actually feels like I'm getting better performance in the woods and in cities. I'm not 100% sure though.

where did you see this? As I recall they (the developers) NEVER say what's going to be in a patch until it's actually in the patch...

Epic, I installed arma2 directly on my dedicated machine to not have to upload 6Gb files every time a patch is released, worked fine until now, when I try to apply 1.04 patch it says "error : arma2 is not installed on that machine or install is corrupted" which is bullshit since I could install 1.03 without problem.

And yes I checked registry and arma2 keys are still in.

Some nice fixes in this patch. But, disappointed that there is no difference or increase in performance at all. I think most people figured there would be, how come they released it anyway? No one was demanding it, we where all happily waiting for the new betas to come out and giving feed back. I could of waited another month or so.

If BIS is actually unable to do anything about performance, then I think it's about time they told us, so we can just get on with it and wait for more new hardware. We may be deluding ourselves waiting for fix that they can't make.

I think they issued the patch because some people were not willing to use / didn't know about (if they are less involved w/ the message board etc and just playing the game they bought) the betas.

With that being said, there have been some good fixes addressed by the betas and i feel the game has improved in many aspects for those that are using them.

On a side note, I never really had any trouble with the game prior to betas and have only started crashing since the VON fix or maybe the one before. However this isn't a regular occurrence (maybe once for every 4 or so hours played) and considering I do run a few mods I can't 100% blame it on the betas. Either way, the irregularity of the crashes has not influenced me to test w/o the mods since i like what they bring to the game.

In summary, this should bring the majority of the mp community up to the same point and that way random people won't crash off a server running the VON beta if they had not installed it.

Weird, i just applied patch 1.04 to our server and it works fine. Maybe there is something wrong with your installation or the run path. If you installed the last beta patch you have to rename the "Run" line back to ""C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2""

ye nvm i figured out that i had deleted the arma2.exe as it was useless, put it back the patch goes and fails again but later saying some addons stuffs are corrupted and that patch file is probably corrupted, this is going rly epic, redownloading the patch from another mirror now...

Any chances sum1 got the touched files even ig i know it must be about 6Gb ?
