*NOB*Perica 10 Posted September 12, 2009 Hello folks! I have a serious problem with ingame framerates since I upgraded from Ati 4670 to XFX Ati 4770 gfx card. Now I have even lower framerates then I used to have with 4670 (somewhere around 25-28 FPS), 3D resoulution 1024x768, all set to NORMAL, except Aniso and AA are set to high, Postprocessing disabled. What is more interesting, there seems to be no difference if I have my AA set to HIGH or completely disabled, framerate doesn't change! I seem to be having simillar problem with other games..then I thought it may be my PSU (420w) as 4770 recommends 500w. I unpluged all my USB peripherals and the only DVD drive I have and nothing changed. My config is: AMD Athlon II Box 250 (Dual core 2x3.01 ghz) 4gb of RAM XFX Ati 4770 512mb GDDR5 PSU 420w Could it be my PSU? I also checked while minimizing my game if the card has underclocked but the gpu and memory frequencies are what they should be. I'm pretty much lost here..Uninstalled the drivers, used Driversweep then installed all over again, fresh set..but problem still remains. Any help is apreaciated! Horus 80 Posted September 12, 2009 Pozdrav Perice  First delete arma2.cfg and yourname.ArmA2Profile files and see if there are some changes. Secondly you must OC that card to see full potentiality of that card ;) Guide how to OC 4770 :D
*NOB*Perica 10 Posted September 12, 2009 EJ, pozdrav i tebi! Well, I just got the card (my previous 4670 had its memory fried) so I wouldn't mess with overclocking it just yet.. I will take that advice of yours and see what happens!
telejunky 0 Posted September 12, 2009 The Phenom II Series is really great at other games, but in ArmA 2 it is not enough power for the singleplayer. I play the first mission on utes and get only ~28fps with my phenom II X4 945 3Ghz and my HD 4850. I even lowered the graphicssettings but it stayed at 28fps. Maybe you try to overclock your cpu? Running your Athlon II at 3.7 Ghz would be great for ArmA 2, but this would be overkill for this cpu... But regarding the issue with a better gfxcard and lower fps... does the new card only have only 512MB of video ram and the latter 1gb?
*NOB*Perica 10 Posted September 12, 2009 Nah, both the old and the new one have 512mb with an exception of 4770 having a GDDR5 instead of GDDR3 of the previous 4670.
Bulldogs 10 Posted September 13, 2009 It's more than likely that your CPU is slowing things down. The power supply shouldn't effect your speed (it does in some rare cases, but that's not the issue here), the only problem you would notice with a weaker power supply is crashing/reboots. Removing USB devices wouldn't affect the power much either as they run on different rails.
