dustoff 0 Posted September 11, 2009 Whats going on with arma2 ? player seems to be dropping fast tonight I noticed only about 300 people playing on line with the largest gropu being 26 players in a 64 man server . With a ton of empty servers .
randir14 10 Posted September 11, 2009 The population looks normal to me other than the BMF server not showing up (usually the most populated one)
Binkowski 26 Posted September 11, 2009 It's just not what it used to be back in the day....now it's just Domination...or Evolution...sadly.

woppa 0 Posted September 11, 2009 It's just not what it used to be back in the day....now it's just Domination...or Evolution...sadly. Well we have all kind of server running and one where people could admin and select any mission they like themselves but no one used it so put up persistant game types instead. I don't think people can be bothered with sea gulls or waiting round for next mission to start. It has something to do with the Bf2 era of games where you just get action all the time with respawn which is what most people what I guess. Structured mission types are best for squad in house and dont' work too well on open public servers. Regards
galzohar 31 Posted September 11, 2009 Missions with no respawns have to be designed as such. Badly designed no-respawn missions really turn people off of these types of missions.
InFireBaptize 0 Posted September 11, 2009 i haven't played this game online because i just moved and don't yet have internet, i decided not to get internet unless i quit smoking.
Halli~SPARTA~ 0 Posted September 11, 2009 Our Us server stay's full except early morn w/only half. Our UK server will be empty one hour and hold about 12-20 the next and run till UK/Europe guys sleep. Domination ran on both, we also have two Tactical servers that have not been used a lot as of late but as time moves on players will want to move to a more tactical aspect of the game so we keep them up just incase. volkov956 0 Posted September 12, 2009 Some servers are running is closed lans like mine to prevent outside problems.
[aps]gnat 28 Posted September 12, 2009 but either way, some time in the future numbers WILL drop. Maybe tomorrow, may early next year (after everyone get new Xmas presents), or maybe in 3 years time (a bit like OFP we can hope) Aussie scene seems to be fine at the moment. Pretty strong really. yellowmosquito 10 Posted September 17, 2009 It's just not what it used to be back in the day....now it's just Domination...or Evolution...sadly. Back in the day? You mean "the day" as in august of this year? This game came out a little over a month ago?
randir14 10 Posted September 17, 2009 There were a ton of people playing last night, probably because of the new patch. I even saw a Warfare server with good ping and 30 players, I've never seen that before. Servers with good ping are usually empty or playing Domination or AAS. Halli~SPARTA~ 0 Posted September 17, 2009 The Week of Oct. 9th it will slow down quite a bit.
Rowdy426 10 Posted September 22, 2009 I hear ya. I've heard OFP2 has recieved some pretty shady reviews. I know 3 people that are holding off on Arma2 for OFP2. What the killer will be is if the game looks at least AS good as Arma 2 but runs smoother. The bugs are killing me in this.
Alex72 1 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) It will prolly run smoother. It looks like BF2 gameplay in the way they move. And the enormous amount of people and money that went into it should make it flow fast and good - just like BF2 and its likes. Just cause a game "flows" better wont make me play it. They are still 2 different games. One is more run and gun, and one is more sim-ish. Both have war/combat as theme, but i think thats where the similarities ends. Operation Arrowhead + ACE2 = where i will be, and im sure servers will increase a lot when ACE2 for ARMA2 comes out. Fast paced shooters i leave to others. I think codemasters will succeed just cause they make games that tries to appeal to everyone. That means however that it doesnt appeal to me the slightest. I am not a mainstream easy chew kind of guy. I get bored of easy - fast. BF2 was installed on my PC for 2 hours... ("wait is this all it is?? crap - uninstall") :D EDIT: Pub servers is however just that - pub servers. There are ALWAYS a lot of superb servers that wont let you in. For the reason that they dont want muppets there to ruin the awesome missions they do. Its spelled "joining a team". zyklone 1 Posted September 22, 2009 It's most likely gamespy. It's been sucking badly last few days.
AndresCL 10 Posted September 23, 2009 Again with this s...., its not a mainstream game, its a simulator. And anyway, i prefer quality instead of cuantity :) Also, i think that with ACE2 more pepole will be interested for ArmA 2 (mainly ArmA 1 players who stick with ACE)
randir14 10 Posted September 23, 2009 People who leave for Dragon Rising will be back once they realize you can only have four players on a server.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted September 23, 2009 OFP DR might actually be good for us, since we are such a small unit. We couldn't care less about the missing jets anyways. Where did you hear 4 players max? Maybe in the campaign, but I was under the impression that it would support more players than that, although nowhere near the Arma2 missions (due to better physics?). I haven't been playing much multiplayer with Arma2 yet. Those times I've tried there has been mostly morons on the servers doing everything to ruing everything for everyone. So I've basically waited for the playercount to drop. Maybe I should play some more now? :D I will most likely try OFP DR as well, unless it is completely slaughtered in the reviews. They will have some better features and some worse.

Well actually I just read the 4 player limit is for consoles, they will have 4 players who each control 4 AI squad members. The PC version will have 16 vs. 16, but it's still lame because in coop you have to be within around 250 meters of each other, and in PvP you're limited to a 4 square km area. (2 players can be 500 meters apart if they are at the left and right flank of the leader. but we doubt we'll be that lucky and have to wait for the patches/mods to make arma2 great :)
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted September 23, 2009 Ehh, so what happens when you try to go outside of that range? Uups, you got scriptkilled or disconnected? Or walking, or better yet flying, into an invisible wall? :)
