mandoble 1 Posted September 5, 2009 The IIR version of this missile is a true fire and forget one, right?
Simon C 0 Posted September 5, 2009 If Lock On is to believed, then yes, it is. Wikipedia also confirms this, if IIR is the Infra-Red Scanner version. From what I am reading, it appears to be the same as the TV-Screen version, just with All-Weather capability. noubernou 77 Posted September 5, 2009 Yes, like Simon said it is a true fire and forget missile. The Hellfire in the game acts the same way but I am assuming it is the laser guided model, as I am not sure that the TV/IR version is even deployed.
galzohar 31 Posted September 5, 2009 Yeah, afaik the maverick is true fire and forget while the hellfire's fire and forget variant is only usable from the longbow - cobras use the laser guided version (heck you can even see in game that you can lock it on laser designators), and they designate their own targets for themselves, so have to keep LOS with the target to keep the missile guidance. Not sure about multiple targets though. Also, IRL, aircraft that carry laser-guided ammunition usually also carry a laser designation pod, rarely does anyone actually use a ground-based laser designator to guide ordnance.
