bravo 6 0 Posted September 4, 2009 I have been looking and changing the way things look and feel in ArmA2. Since no one showed interest on this post i decided to create a thread :D With time and in the right time i will share this small modification with the community because i believe it will improve the way you see, play and feel the game. For now ill leave some of the WIP: A lot of thing might be changed, add and improved. To give you an idea the pbo file is about 1mb due to the edited icons. I intend to personalize and add some extra ones that do not yet exist.
p75 10 Posted September 4, 2009 Hey Bravo, please make some vids to show what it exactly does...
Demiurge 10 Posted September 4, 2009 I'm all for the FOV, Zoom and UI colour/size tweaks here but in the post you linked you say: "and it also changes several combat feeling aspects such as accuracy, dispersion," Which isn't so good as it means you won't be able to take advantage of the zoom etc tweaks as a client-side only mod because your accuracy, dispersion etc will mismatch the server. (unless installed there too ofc) Maybe have these two different 'parts' of the addon as separate, independent pbos? Before it comes up, I hardly see zoom and FOV tweaks as cheats, even if they are client side only. It's about personal preference in terms of usability. metsapeikkoo 10 Posted September 4, 2009 I totally loved the Trueview addon for ArmA, and I do wish that TrueFeel addon would be multiplayer compatible (Client side). Perhaps it would be reasonable solution to make the addon "modular" if possible?
bravo 6 0 Posted September 4, 2009 @p75 - Ill try to make a video to show what it does so far when i have more free time, RL stuff are on wheels now... @Demiurge - I won't make it into separate pbos, and i explain why: Firstly, because when you aim at something, say at 200 meters i expect the bullet to hit the exact location the dot aims, and in BIS original parameters this does not happen, i honestly tell you, for a while it has been a frustrating feeling (until now) which made me almost lose one of the special fun of the game and its huge potential. Secondly, you can see the differences in your machine even if the server is using other configurations. You will be able to see the less zoom i'm providing, you will be able to correct the ill feeling about the accuracy and precision when aiming targets. In my opinion some of the original parameters are very "arcadish" and turn the game very common. It just needs some spicy thing in it to make it more enjoyable for all that want. For example, i really hate the exaggerated zoom in BIS gave to some optic weapons (per example the M16A4). Some like to play the game with more zoom and some like to play with less zoom to feel more realistic. I for one prefer the second option, ie, to reduce the extreme zoom in some weapons. What i might do if to create 2 different files but in some way similar which defines for Veterans and Cadets. Veterans will have no way to ID friendlies nor enemies tags. But ill think better with time and i expect suggestions from the community before the release. Thats it for now, i need to rest.. long and important day i had. I will say this once more for the skeptics: ATTENTION: The intention of this modification is not at all to cheat, as some might think in the first place. As i said before TrueFeeling is being created/modified to bring and give a more natural feeling onto the game.
Sleek78 0 Posted September 4, 2009 cant wait for your mod ...i loved the Arma one,the icons are too big in arma2 and takes a big chunk of the screen... good job
Macadam Cow 1 Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) It sounds really good Bravo 6 :) If I may add my 2 cents, since ArmA 1 I've always been disturb by the fact you can't use the freelook in ironsight view. Maybe not having the full "angle" but at least being able to look what's on your direct right and left without having to switch to the 1st person view. I don't know if it's possible but it would be great. Well that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work ! Edited September 7, 2009 by Macadam Cow
Binkowski 26 Posted September 6, 2009 Great work Bravo 6! One of my favorite mods in ArmA1 is coming into ArmA2, thank you very much!
Rg 0 Posted September 7, 2009 It's as if I'm dead and gone. Bravo6, from your first post you say your making a similar mod, but with some differences. Ok, but with your screenshots above it looks like your just copying and pasting my tweaks over from arma1 and calling it TrueFeeling. It's like your more or less making a copycat mod thinking I'm no longer playing or modding the arma series.
TankCommander 3 Posted September 7, 2009 Looking good Bravo :) I especially like the unit icons as I just hate the Arma2 ones. You have a much cleared visual of what each soldier specialises in which is great.
hamis 0 Posted September 7, 2009 Make two versions, thank you.:D

bravo 6 0 Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) Bravo6, from your first post you say your making a similar mod, but with some differences. Ok, but with your screenshots above it looks like your just copying and pasting my tweaks over from arma1 and calling it TrueFeeling. It's like your more or less making a copycat mod thinking I'm no longer playing or modding the arma series. As i said, the visual effects are very similar because i liked them in ArmA1 and i want to keep similar ones into ArmA2, if you are making and porting TrueView to ArmA2, great, please do it and release it, i can't wait to use them as well and i bet the community will share the same opinion. Remember, the author of the TrueView mod is the pro not me, because he, for sure, have more experience on the field then me. To answer your question and copycat mod "concern", the TrueFeeling do not use TrueView codes nor images. As you know the used icon images in the above pictures are in ArmA1 and ArmA2 files and they were not used from your original product. A part of what i mentioned, TrueFeeling will also improve the recoil values and feeling in several weapons. If you try and use TrueView from ArmA1 in ArmA2 without changing the codes, i bet you will not have the visual scheme above. To make this clear: I'm using, changing, editing BIS original files and I'm also creating extra icons to make them as more pleased as i can to fit my taste and wishes. NOTE: I hope, by doing this TrueFeeling, it doesn't stop you from releasing, making, improving, the TrueView for ArmA2. @moderators: If moderators think its necessary to close this thread due to what Rg stated in 1st page, please intervene and notify me of it. Grimm 10 Posted September 8, 2009 It seems more a kind of misanderstanding... In your last post you're explaining very well the way you worked on original pbo files, it seems very fair to me and I think that Rg or any moderator will understand too. For my part, I like the idea of separate files : one for cosmetic enhancements, ie the icons, and all the HUD system ; an other for recoil and ballistic enhancements. Because they are very different parts of the game, and I think a lot of people would like to have the choice between them.
.kju 3245 Posted September 8, 2009 There is no copyright on config values. :)
Inkompetent 0 Posted September 8, 2009 I would however suggest though, to change name from TrueFeeling, due to the similarity to TrueMods, which easily can mislead people to think it's from the same creator. Diversity and freedom of choice is awesome, but with the name similarity and all I can understand if Rg gets the feeling of 'theft'. Maybe just RealFeeling or RealPlay or FeelGood or something like that? ^^
Rg 0 Posted September 10, 2009 Of course theres no copywrite on config values. I just found it odd that he's making a similar mod with a similar name and no word. Every permission request I recieved for mod use, I granted with no hesitation. As a small correction Bravo6, I am not sure why you keep refering to "TrueView". That was just my first mod that was nothing more then fov and headmovement corrections. The dozens of other mods/addons, which included the fov and headmovement was under the name "TrueMods". I know you probably know this since you responded in the release thread, but this simple confusion leads me to agree with Inkompetent, that it might be best to change the name to one of his suggestions or just anything probably without the word "true" as you know some people are going to get mixed up somewhere. bravo 6 0 Posted September 10, 2009 To be honest I don't want and I'm not looking for any kind of confusions. If people want and think its better to change the name i change it, no problem and no big deal.. To be honest i don't understand why people reacted the way they did...
twisted 128 Posted September 10, 2009 this mod looks great. especially the zoom and sqaud icons. however please make the dispersion, etc stuff modular as i am using SLX mod and that also changes dispersion and i f we get so many mods changing dispersion then it's all going to get very screwy and confusing very fast. thanks :)

andersson 285 Posted September 10, 2009 To be honest i don't understand why people reacted the way they did... Your "TrueFeeling" could easilly become confuse old TrueMod users. Could also be confusing when the TrueMod will be released (?) for arma2.
