Speeeedy 0 Posted March 24, 2002 I was visiting the Indepence lost website to see if they had up-dated it...nothing new but i came across this add banner which looks like showing off a game in Flashpoint engine...might already have posted not sure
Damage Inc 0 Posted March 24, 2002 Yep although WebWasher filters it But it looks more like an ad for some 3D glasses.
Maddock 0 Posted March 24, 2002 This is a banner add is for eDimensional 3D glasses. They're pretty cool by all accounts and work well with OFP and other 3D games, click the banner (of course) to see the site and the product. It looks pretty cool. It seams that anyone BIS/OFP related in Australia (I mean Seventh) is a selling-agent for the glasses. You'll see the same banner link on the Operation Vietnam site. nordin dk 0 Posted March 24, 2002 I think the point was, that there are pictures in that banner animation, that come from a game that uses the OFP engine, but which is not OFP...it's pretty obvious that it's an ad for 3D glasses.. So, is it pictures from Independence Lost, from Resistance or what?
Maddock 0 Posted March 24, 2002 You're right Nordin, it is pretty clear. Â That said, given that it's on the BIS/Seventh sites, and that they're the agents for it's sale in this banner, it's a reasonable assumption that they're shots from the OFP engine, perhaps with the high definition graphics. It is probably IL, but could be anything from one of their projects. Being a third-party product, if the banner was done by eDimensional, it could be totally unrelated to OFP. Now that I think about it, I haven't been much help to this thread at all! Â
Murmur2k 0 Posted March 25, 2002 OH MY GOD!!!! Thanks for this Info! I have the 3d glasses - but they do not work well with my ATI Radeon 8500. I did some driver testing for Edimensional - I mentioned to them about OFP and how good it would be to have built in support for 3D glasses so that I can play it in 3D with my system. I was informed by them that they and BIS were working on built in support for 3D Glasses - this is the proof I was after!!!!! WICKED!
Maddock 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Ahh murmur..... This is a banner advertisment. It's not an official statement from anyone that OFP, BIS, IL or anything has additional in-built support for the glasses (although that would be great). As you obviously know, the glasses are advertised and sold based on working with existing games that do not require specific support for the 3d to work. As you indicate, results differ greatly from game-to-game and from card-to-card. I don't think anyone wants to give the wrong impression here. Â
Murmur2k 0 Posted March 25, 2002 No Maddock, You don't understand, I am pretty much an unofficial beta tester for Edimensional. I have spoken at length to certain people on their team and I have been "told" of in-game support for a future product. I asked if it would be in the form of a patch for OFP, and they said probably a new product... IL!!!!! I have just contacted ED about it - will post any news... ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 25, 2002 weapons and attire of two soldiers does seem to fit OFP's graphic...but not sure...it could be IL based on the long grass along side the road in one of pic.
Maddock 0 Posted March 25, 2002 I certainly hope you're right about IL. I just wanted to be clear about the thread, that's all. Â I didn't make the leap to assume that because these are being advertised on these OFP sites, that the game will specifically support it. I hope it does. Â
Murmur2k 0 Posted March 25, 2002 I hope so too - I will finally be able to play in true 3D with my glasses on my Gfx card
williek 0 Posted March 25, 2002 I just posted a new thread about this, then saw this one. I have the edimensional glasses with a GeForce3 and they are incredible. To help clear up what seems to be confusion about built-in integration with IL, you do not need it. The glasses work automatically with the existing OFP engine very well and based on the banner ad showing up, should work as well with IL. I doubt BIS would advertise a product that would not make their game look it's best, and I for one can tell you the game looks its best with the glasses on. The integration with the OFP engine seems to be better than most any game I've tried them with.
Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 The "President/CEO" of eDimensional, Inc. E'd us the other day about them
Murmur2k 0 Posted March 25, 2002 What did he say Placebo? Just promoting the glasses or something more important? I got a reply and it seems he is unsure whether the BIS team are going to incorporate compatibility enhancements for the glasses.. oh and williek - Yes they work very well for NVidia users (due to 3d support in drivers), but many people don't use Geforce cards. If built-in support happened then drivers wouldn't be required and everyone could use it. Also, it would be set up correctly out of the box...
Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 Yeah it was about promotion, about how they're working with Bis on promotion too, he didn't mention they were working with Bis on perfecting the glasses in Opf so one can only make assumptions on that
Antichrist 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Those pictures are definitely from OFP engine You can see it if you played OFP for 20 or more minutes Soldier faces, lighting and sky
Maddock 0 Posted March 25, 2002 20 minutes you say.....Bravo.
williek 0 Posted March 25, 2002 For those of you with a nVidia card, this is certainly a must have. Not sure about other cards, but I can't say enough about what an experience it is. Most people I know are using a geforce anyway (nothing against your card, murmur2k ) Went right in and needed virtually no tweaking.
Hellbound 0 Posted March 25, 2002 I think the original game sounds are real dull. After adding "Satchels Dynamic Sounds" MOD I re-fell in love with this game. It made one hell of a difference! I Would love to see An official Sound Mod, (hopefully real close to satchels sounds)! Great Job Satchel! Hellbound!

williek 0 Posted March 25, 2002 The other post is closed so I wanted to bring the replies over here. First, what caused me to buy the glasses in the first place was this review on SIMHQ: I bought mine around Christmas time after reading this review on SIMHQ by Crash: I saved what I think is the best use of the eDimensional 3D glasses for last. While several of the sims I tried worked pretty well to down right great, nothing compared to Operation Flashpoint or Rogue Spear, especially in heavy foliage. The depth perception, the feel, the immersion was unparalleled. I have tried, and have hanging around here still, several different 3D glasses. I started swapping things around to be sure I was not just forgetting what the older ones looked like. Nope, nothing I have ever tried, short of units in specialty shops for thousands of dollars a pair, can even come close to these. And even those spendy ones would get a pretty decent run against these. I am not sure I can play these games anymore without these glasses on. It took a few minutes to dial in the best settings for me, but once I did, I was hooked. Identification of targets near bushes seems more realistic and shooting accuracy increased as well. And trust me, in FPS games I need all the help I can get!. Unfortunately my daughters accuracy increased too, and she DOES NOT NEED THE HELP! Immersion and just plain AWE factor is huge. Crash is not exagerating...these are AWESOME!! I literally forget I'm not in the game sometimes the immersion is so intense. If you don't have a pair, go get em. You won't be disappointed. There was a question brought up about eye fatigue. As long as your monitor can put out at least 85 Hz, you won't notice any fatigue, even playing for hours. It's only when your refresh rate drops that it becomes annoying.
Murmur2k 0 Posted March 25, 2002 williek - Does OFP work in page-flip mode on your Geforce? - Also do you find that the quality of the graphics decreases- like more jaggies e.t.c. ? Cheers
Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 Personally I think they should send OFPN free samples so we can test them and write a review
williek 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Murmur2k, Yes, nVidia only supports page flip with the stereo drivers for the glasses. Placebo, you said they contacted you. Why not ask for one? Ever write them back?
