After a huge development cycle, 2 major Preview releases as well as a Race-only release before that, going Open-Source, delays, more delays, missed deadlines and lots of hype, MTA:SA 1.0 (formerly known as MTA:Deathmatch) has been Released!

With a Lua scripting VM running just about everything, MTA is the most advanced scriptable Multiplayer environment for any GTA game. The features MTA provides to scripters allow almost any idea to be made possible into a fully fledged gamemode!

But of course, people always like examples, so:

  • 128 player support!
  • Builtin Serverside SQLite Account System for player accounts
  • Speaking of SQLite, most SQL functions are exposed in Lua for scripters to make use of SQL as they please.
  • Builtin Anticheat - shown great success at catching the common cheat programs available.
  • Builtin (Multiplayer Supported!) Map Editor, which can be extended to support new custom gamemodes!
  • Custom sound support - both 2D (like for a GUI) and 3D Positioned (like custom sounds from a player)
  • Custom Texture Support - A resource can replace any texture on any game object - the files are downloaded automatically.
  • Custom Model Support - Entire map objects can be replaced with custom objects - a server can replace every infernus with a Honda NSX model for example. (I assure you that image was taken in MTA!)
  • Custom Collision support - Adding in new Map areas is no good if they couldn't be driven on!
  • Scripted Peds - think NPCs - currently they cannot use weapons themselves, but that feature is planned for a later release. However, they will drive vehicles, move around, punch - along with anything else you care to script them to do. (like turn them into zombies!)
  • Custom HUD/GUI - A feature-rich GUI environment is builtin, allowing scripters to make advanced GUI layouts - also, with custom Text and Image support, entire new Graphical HUDs can be created!
  • Recolour the Sky, and Vehicle Headlights, and Water!
  • Adjust Gravity Direction, as well as Strength -

  • Create new sections of Water - you could flood a city for example!
  • Multiplayer Synced builtin GTASA Cheats, such as driving on water or flying cars!
  • Many "exploits" fixed, such as fast reloading - but server admins can re-enable them for their server if they wish.
  • XML support
  • C++ Module support and Included SDK
  • HTTP Webserver Administration - customisable with a combination of PHP and Lua scripts.
  • SA-MP Gamemode Emulator - run all your favourite SA-MP gamemodes!

And much more! (my feature list making skill sucks. :P)

In all, MTA has about 300-400 Client only functions, 200-300 Server only functions, and 400-600 Shared functions available, as well as about 30-50 Events, both Client based and Server Based, as well as support for custom events coded in Lua, which is then extendable with C++ modules. The level of power it gives scripters is incredible!

Along with the usual improved syncronization and netcode, It is, (IMHO) THE definitive Multiplayer experience for ANY GTA game, not just San Andreas.

If you have GTA:San Andreas Installed, you owe it to yourself to get this!

Note to Steam Version Users:

MTA 1.0 (like all San Andreas mods) only works on San Andreas v1.0 - get details on how to downgrade your copy from This Link, under the section: "About Users of the Steam version of San Andreas"

I always had big respect for the MTA developers and community. The effort put into the MTA projects is just beyond everything I ever saw in gaming communities. It's nice to see a final release after so many years. I will definitely take a look into it :yay:

I don't own a copy of SA, but this might just be a good reason to get one. :)

As soon as my internet at home is finally functional, that is.
