Starting from scratch.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I made a few islands back in OFP that never got released. One project I made a start on back in 2005 was the Lake District in NW England. (See http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:FVa_qGzV4DMJ:ofp.gamepark.cz/forum/index.php%3Fs%3D73dc2fdf529a32148e9d41549b24ffe0%26showtopic%3D23948%26view%3Dold+ofp.info+"furness+2006"&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk)

So to start this again for ArmA II, i'm going to need to buy or acquire a high quality DEM, and start to learn Visitor 3 from the beginning. If anyone has any good links or advice on either, please chuck them this way!

Thanks,

Daniel

I think that there´re no ArmA2 related Tutorials available at the time. The Biki is mixed I guess, but the content is not well explained. So tutorials of dedicated Arma2 terrain editing need to get written by someone who want to do this...so we need to be patient...unfortunately. Or crying for help until some of the experts gives up and represents his way step by step and reevaluable...:D

Haha, cheers. I'm not in any particular rush so I think i'll wait around for a dedicated tutorial. :)

Also, if any of the ArmA mappers (people like Opteryx, Nicholas Bell, etc) that used them has advice on acquiring and using DEM maps, that would be appreciated.

Thanks, but have you got a good link to any UK DEMs?

I use a web service called digimap, however it is only for educational establishments (universities etc) and as I am a student access is free. It allows access to download OS maps (most formats including Landranger) in digital format for programs like AutoCAD/Photoshop/Terragen...

So Oridinance Survey is probably a good place to start.

A quick google search returned this site: http://www.vterrain.org/Locations/uk/

Another one is http://www.srtm.co.uk/
