MQ-9 Reaper 10 Posted August 18, 2009 I wish fireteams separated from the main squad would adopt a tighter formation. Currently if a fireteam is given a move order, it will adopt automatically the default wedge formation, regardless of their spacing and regardless of the squad's formation. Which means fireteam red: 2-12-13, for example, will be spread apart and will hardly provide cover to each other. Also, 2 will position himself at the intended location while 12 and 13 will be 40 meters away from him (and 60 meters away from each other). Ideally, fireteams should fill the gaps within their formation* and they should adopt the same formation as the main squad one. *same thing for the main squad. frederf 0 Posted August 18, 2009 First, the normal squad formations are waaay too close together. Spacing should be 10-15m in moderate terrain. A 12 man squad in line formation should be 100m+ wide. Second, you don't want pseudoformations to be "tighter" you want them to be "independent" as in they form up 4 soldiers like it was 4 soldiers not 20 with 16 missing. MQ-9 Reaper 10 Posted August 19, 2009 So far, I don't have any problem with the normal squad formations but, I definitely would like that fireteams were tighter (or independant). Ideally we would be able to set their spacing in the command menu. Fireteams (2,4,6) and (3,5,7), will, by default, move closer together and provide each other more effective cover during movements and at the destination. Meanwhile a fireteam like (2,12,13) is tricky to move around the map.
