torcar 10 Posted August 17, 2009 When setting up a scenario with a i.e. AH-Z1 and a few targets I struggle with manual fire and targeting... If I enable manual fire to have some fun on my own and i.e. switching to cannon I can take a few shots at some targets... but suddenly it switches to rockets and I cannot cycle back to cannon by pressing F. After a little time I can switch back to cannon, but when doing a new flyby it suddenly switches back to rockets... How can I get total control? And targeting... If I freelook and mark a target, the AI targets that target... but when I switch to manual fire the turret still points at the target I selected. I cannot "un-target" it again by pressing tab or the mouse-buttons... Input? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

-GLT-Sarge 10 Posted August 17, 2009 It's a known bug (so do I hope! because its annoying as F) sadly not many people seem to notice that issue.....as they also don't notice that HE rounds and grenades explode when they hit vegetation. A launched 40mm Grenade is capable to penetrate a car's door without exploding, a freakin tweak shouldnt make it explode! So all you YouTube trolls who try to play that bug down....Get Lost! NoRailgunner 0 Posted August 17, 2009 Switch to manual fire thats the workaround for annoying AI weapon switching. Maybe BIS devs forgot to test and improve this AI feature? On the other hand the AI isnt able to attack highest threats as primary targets eg. enemy aircraft, AA(A) vehicles, AA static objects. -GLT-Sarge 10 Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) switching to manual fire is as pointless as letting the AI pull the triggers. the weapons will just randomly switch after you fired one, sometimes the weapons cant even switched again after it happened. go into the editor, place some harmless enemy units (mixture of vehicles and infantry) and try to kill them with a Gunship, using Cannons, AT-Missiles and unguided rockets...try both AI and manual fire........I hope you have strong nerves. Seriously, in Arma 1 the AI gunners were good, so was the manual fireing mode.....no problems at all. in Arma 2 its almost impossible to fight something when you have an AI gunner.....and as I said, switching to manual fire isnt any good either. this need to be fixed asap, so have the grenades and HE rounds. NoRailgunner 0 Posted August 22, 2009 Agree - its a very annoying AI-control bug: Place a helicopter on Utes/Chernarus with player as pilot. Place somewhere enemy tanks and units. Start engine and fly to enemys position. Change weapon to guided missiles and after some seconds you will see that the AI gunner has switched the weapon. Change to manual fire (supposed to override AI weapon control) and you will see that the weapon will be switched again. I lke to suggest following: A - if the player doesnt order anything: AI should engage targets*. B - if the player orders to change weapon: AI should only engage with this weapon until ammunition is depleted. C - if the player switch to manual fire: AI shouldnt get any control over weapons until player switching them back. *default AI should imho use primarily guided missiles/bombs to attack high threats such as anti-aircraft vehicles and aircrafts. If all guided ammunition is depleted they should fire rockets. Would be nice if default AI would use somekind of target priority list to engage their highest threats first. What about an "AI retreat and standby option" for default AI pilots and crews until the chances are 50/50 or higher to survive/win? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

fidai 12 Posted August 22, 2009 Have the same problem also, but what really annoys me is when i put on normal fire so the Ai gunner can shoot with machinegun it switch to missles from its own when there no tanks or heavy target at all in town( only happens with russian helicopters) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
