Noftall 10 Posted August 15, 2009 I have 2 problems that I was wondering about. Firstly I had been playing the single player campaign with no troubles for the first 3 or 4 missions and now all of a sudden when I load the mission it either crashes or the graphics go all crazy. The second is that every time I try to install the new patch this error comes up that says there's a problem with a file titled "add on" something. I'm currently reinstalling the game to see if i can fix whats going on so I cant see what the file name is exactly, ill know soon enough. Any Advice? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Bulldogs 10 Posted August 15, 2009 Make sure you download the patch from a different location, makes sure Arma isn't running when you run the patch (make sure arma2.exe isn't running a process in the taskmanager) make sure none of the files in the arma 2 directory are read only. This is a common issue and it seems the most common causes are a bad read of the dvd while installing (even though it didn't tell you as much) in which case a reinstall usually helps, or it's a common cause that arma2.exe is still running in the background which prevents the patch from installing correctly. Another thing people have found is that in some cases they manage to patch it directly from fresh install (version 1.0 or 1.01) to patch 1.03. If that doesn't work try installing patch 1.02 then 1.03. As for the crash, it could be caused by corrupt files but the most common cause seems to be problematic nVidia drivers (try the 1.86.something drivers) or an overheating issue with either the CPU or GPU (Arma 2 seems to push both, especially the CPU, harder than most other games which causes mass overheating), so monitor your temps closely while playing.
