Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

Recommended Posts

For some reason I crashed while playing hosting a MP game, and I got one of those "this application has encountered an error and needs to close" messages. When I closed that, my steam poped up saying "ARMA2 has finished downloading". My friend who was in the same server, crashed a few seconds later and told me he noticed that STEAM was updating ARMA2 on his side.

I restart the game and it still shows up as 1.03. Is this some sort of hotfix or something?

Don't know but I just tried to start arma up and it said "the steam servers are too busy to handle your request, try again later"?

Wtf is that about?

Update complete. Was a quick download.

Still can't login because of the too busy message. Also steam keeps logging me out totally saying my ticket has expired and I must log in again?

I don't know what the hell is going on here?

sounds like steam is bogged down because all the users online are suddenly updating all at once.

Yeah I now know why I crashed out of the middle of the game. Doesn't bother me none, though, as I needed to call it a night anyways lol.

I noticed Steam keeps loggin me out automatically even 5 mins or so, I figure their servers are overloaded and they're trying to get rid of some congestion.

I had 4 hours to game tonight and I still can't get the update. Really sucks. I'm giving up and going to bed.

Here is the fix for the servers too busy error. I tried it and it worked:

Link

All i needed to do was close Steam, delete the file 'ClientRegistry.blob' from the Steam program files folder and restart steam, it then automatically updates, then everything was running fine.

Instructions on how to do it here:

http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/...ly_unavailable

the site also has other help on the subject that could help.

I hope this, and the original post can help people.

Its so frustrating when you get this message, I just bought a new game, and it wouldnt install.

happy now though. :]

I can't believe Steam still has this bug. Hasn't it been around for years? Must cause a hell of a lot of confusion for some people.

Lol I remember getting that bug when steam first came out (as well as countless others).

Yeah, the bug has been there since the beginning.

And if that doesn't work, make sure your firewall (windows and router) are forwarding ports 27000-27030 (UDP) and 27020-27050 (TCP) and make sure Anti-Virus software isn't blocking updates (some AV software doesn't let you update steam stuff due to the fact that Steam deletes the old files then replaces them)

Its not available as a download from BIS yet :(

Maybe it just affects STEAM users?

I'm guessing it was a small patch designed to test a patching fix since they had an issue with it during the last update. If you'll recall the 1.03 patch caused a 4GB download.

I can confirm that my Steam version of ARMA II is currently downloading an update of some sort.

I currently have the latest patch (v1.03) installed already.

As already indicated in the thread the update was based on the following (pulled from the Steam page)

7:30am here (GMT - 3), and Steam is still too busy...

everyone decided that tonight was the night to play through apparently :p

Thankfully it's only that... I was kinda worried when I first saw the message... thought something had gone wrong with my setup

Cheers

EDIT: Still too busy... Argh... why did I buy the Steam version??

The too busy error is a bug with steam, quit out of steam, delete clientregistry.blob then load steam up again
