BeerHunter 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Just curious as to what the BIS team is targeting for the next (I hope :p ) patch. Any word as to what areas they are targeting for fixing/improvement yet?

Big Dawg KS 5 Posted August 12, 2009 I dunno, but this might be some indication. Just thought I'd try to make this thread just slightly less pointless before it is closed.

richiespeed13 11 Posted August 12, 2009 For the love of god I hope they finally improve the sounds of this game. As its taken them 10 years to step backwards with sounds, i have no expectations for improvements in a patch...

Big Dawg KS 5 Posted August 12, 2009 For the love of god I hope they finally improve the sounds of this game. What's wrong with the sounds? They are excellent IMO... way better than ArmA and OFP.
Alex72 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Mono sounds (fire your rifle in 1st person and turn head. ArmA1 you hear it on left ear when you have left ear to rifle). Explosions "stick" to the ear you hear them on when they go off. Turning your head to look for the explosion will make the explosion sound follow your ear you first heard it on until it plays out. Very hard to pin point explosions while moving that is. Patch 1.03 introduced clickings and a lot of distortion - surely you didnt miss that? Other than that - i agree the sounds are better and the engine lets us create cooler things (You should hear MarkXIII's new stuff) :) No its not released - well partially. Whyfly? 10 Posted August 12, 2009 I've notice the first patches were more visuals and the errors with the game. Performance was somewhat in there, but mostly not. They should do 1.04 as mostly a PERFORMANCE patch, and SOME errors etc. This way people will get off their backs about the game performing terribly on monster machines, and they can focus back on errors and AI problems etc. 1.03 and below-Bugs errors, and minor performance help 1.04-Should be mostly performance so people get off their back. (Also include some bug fixes)
Windexglow 10 Posted August 12, 2009 While you listed a few of the problems with sounds, most weapons share the same fire sound. Explosions are severely lacking (once again, borrowing the same sound file in most cases) Missile launches are horrible and can be heard very, very far away. Aircraft are even worse - the A10 uses some small-arms weapon it seems. And so on.. Most of the sound files in the game feel like place holders. No one likes shelling out $50 for a game which still has place holders.
Whyfly? 10 Posted August 12, 2009 EDIT:I just saw this website This shows all their fixes in each patch
Mandrake 9 Posted August 12, 2009 As its taken them 10 years to step backwards with sounds, i have no expectations for improvements in a patch... hearing impairment? no soundcard? alternate reality? can't continue post as *lost for words*
Whyfly? 10 Posted August 12, 2009  hearing impairment? no soundcard? alternate reality? can't continue post as *lost for words* You have now stepped.. Into the Twilight Zone. The sound is just amazing IMO.:bounce3:

Simon_M 0 Posted August 12, 2009 i just hope they fix some of these: :banghead: -Enemy ai can see through vegitation/bushes/trees and smoke! EVEN buildings somtimes-The stars are way too bright on the NVG, with the stupid auto adjust they are useless. -Flares mess the hole nvgs up with flickering black ground textures. -still get black squares on some destroyed vehicles -Wtf Countermeasures and warnings for helis and planes.... modern planes have them why cant the game, go the expense of making the realistic star positions of the time of year but yet cant give something important and actually realistic. -Rudder still goes mad on the f35, harrier gets even worse at speed over 500 -fix the smoke grenades back to original -fix the ai so they are not as easy like in patch 102 -Fix the crackling sound now developed via patch 103 -Fix sounds stop playing (eg: you use FFAR's to suppress a position - your chopper engine sounds stop until the explosions stop) -the laser designator battery to goto were your map and compass are in your kit instead of taking up space for a grenade -zoom is on by default in some vehicles lav hq when turning out is noticeable, have to numpad enter to get back to normal -when in multi player, pilot in a chopper on his own with manual fire enabled, a gunner gets in and fires main guns/rockets but is not visible or damaging to the enemy [this on the cobra do not know about any other combat chopper] - Fix AI gunner that will override your choice of weapons -whats the turn off/on hud on the mh60 about? -C-130 taxi radius needs to be reduced -Fix Artilery Module (Esp for MLRS and GRAD) -Gps is displayed when turned out of amour, but not inside. -Mk48 0 is missing the centre bit from the corsair -red dots/holo sights are useless because too blurry n bright its like they have their own light source! Would be good to have: -dynamic throttle on the choppers -why cant the harrier have the same Vtol attributes as the f35 -we miss the Apache and Chinnook - came in a patch update in ofp -when will the 3D editor be usable -in the editor some things just have blank selectables in objects and sound for example -a mic adjustment menu for in game voip! -fix the medic modules so we can use them in MP.... this was the best feature of the game and its been taken out really... -a button to scroll up previous chat. -the animations that are embedded in the c130 and osprey to be usable -More silenced weapons -Wingtip vortices effect theres no icon for praying hahahahaaha
InFireBaptize 0 Posted August 12, 2009 i hate to be cynical but nothing, only A.C.E will fix this game and once it is out i'll be donating to the A.C.E team :bounce3:
NeMeSiS 11 Posted August 12, 2009 I doubt that BI can magically improve the performance that much. Sure, there are probably things that can be optimized (significantly), but in the end you would have to lose features to gain more performance.
Big Dawg KS 5 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I wouldn't mind losing a few features... especially ones that aren't exactly complete. Edited August 12, 2009 by Big Dawg KS

kozzy420 10 Posted August 12, 2009 Totally agree. Wise words. But somehow i think 1.04 will be pointless patch again... Pointless for some, fantastic for others.
arthur666 10 Posted August 12, 2009 Pointless for some, fantastic for others. Put me down in the latter group. The lone, unaware AI guard not reporting me when I instantly and quietly take him out w/silent weapon at night has made a huge gameplay improvement for my sneaky-sneak missions. Way more fun/believable now.
