RedruM-X 10 Posted August 11, 2009 I have Nexway downloaded version. The helicopter and jetsounds etc, actually, all sounds almost, are not controllable via the Audio menu as they should supposed to be, and the heli sounds are so loud ... E.g. I put all sound to 0, and then I click ONLY once on every meter so Radio, sound and music are at it's lowest value (but not 0), as shown in following pic : http://users.telenet.be/RedruM-X/ARMA2/Sound_vol.JPG You can see that these settings should put all volumes ridiculously LOW, well, they don't. The sound is still so loud that I can't hear my friends over ventrilo, which is seriously annoying. All other sounds are ok, but engine sounds ... I understand that the effects of a chopper or jet and so on should be louder then for example a footstep (logical), but they just don't scale with what you configure in the audio menu, and that is not normal. There is nothing wrong with my X-Fi soundcard, nothing wrong with drivers either. All work correctly and are updated. It's driving me nuts because I'm quite a good pilot but I just cant fly the heli with exterior view as it makes me deaf, but this is my preferred method of flying. I just don't know what to do anymore ... Anyone please, if you have any advice ?
Steakslim 1 Posted August 11, 2009 Heli's and jets are supposed to be loud. My suggestion is the lower the volume on your headset/speakers some, keep the games sfx volume somehwere around 50% or less, and increase the volume in Ventrillo. I did the same with Teamspeak (don't play on many servers with groups that use vent so I can't say much) for the same reasons, but this has been so since ArmA1. I have VOP and RH's sound mods where vehicles seem to be even louder from what I can tell. If this doesn't help I'd suggest making sure your soundcard's options do not have EAX turned on. The game supposedly does not take advantage of hardware acceleration for sound, but in ArmA1 EAX tend to create a bug to let you hear vehicles very loudly from across Sahrani as if they were sitting right next to you. The bug may have crawled it's way into ArmA2, however this is unproven, I'm just taking a wild stab at this possibility.

I know heli's are supposed to be loud, but with those settings they shouldn't be louder then my friend on ventrilo, and I don't need to turn Ventrilo up as Ventrilo is ok in ALL other games. It is a ARMA2 problem which they can easily fix. If you think it's normal that HELI's are still as loud as fuck with those audio settings, then dream on. I'll try the EAX thing, but doubt this will change anything. ---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ---------- Tested disabling EAX, changes nothing at all. I've tried just about anything, ratio thingies and everything, nothing really makes it better or work as it should work. Giving up on this shit, will never do it anyway as I see people saying everywhere.
