ZachNCheese 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I am thinking about buying the full game but right now I'm evaluating the demo. Overall it's a great game but what bothers me is the cumbersome command scheme. -Down to my questions: are the AI really as bad in the demo as in the full game? The ignore my orders sometimes and act completely erratic in vehicles. -Is there a way to toggle between fire teams (i.e. between Red Team and Green Team)? -Can you set waypoints when commanding a squad/team? -How does one issue "covering fire" and "follow [squad member]" orders? -Is there an easier way to heal friendlies with a Corpsman/Medic, like a specific keyboard command? jakerod 248 Posted August 11, 2009 1.) I think the AI is pretty good. When they ignore your orders it tends to be because it isn't a good order at the time or because you have them set in the wrong "mode". Their vehicle handling isn't that great but hopefully it will get patched. 2.) Toggling: There kind of is. If you hold shift and select a member of the group it selects the whole group. 3.) Not when you're squad commander. When you are (high commander) commanding a platoon there is. 4.) You don't really issue the covering fire order. I tend to tell a couple of guys to move somewhere and watch a direction or stick them in combat mode. 5.) Using 6 there is normally an action if you select either the wounded man or the medic. ZachNCheese 0 Posted August 11, 2009 Ah, thank you very much. How do you make squad mates follow one another? For example; if I detached a team on a separate mission, how would I make them follow a fire team leader?

ZachNCheese 0 Posted August 11, 2009 I see. You know when some of your subordinates lag behind and ask where you are? How to you tell them your grid coordinates?
jakerod 248 Posted August 11, 2009 I see. You know when some of your subordinates lag behind and ask where you are? How to you tell them your grid coordinates? You don't. Most the time if you stop or slow down they will catch up. If they don't seem to be catching up you tell them to move to your position and then once they are close order them to return to formation. ZachNCheese 0 Posted August 11, 2009 Alright, I can already see a great improvement in my game. I just executed my first successful search and destroy raid on an ChDKZ encampment thanks to all the help you provided. Well, successful until the AI pilot killed us all on extraction...oh well, thanks anyway.
jakerod 248 Posted August 11, 2009 Yeah their piloting can do that sometimes. If you're making the mission the best thing to do is provide a path that doesn't take it too close to anything. Or if ordering it in by clicking on a map picking an LZ that doesn't have too many objects. Glad I helped though. Have fun. These games have lasted me for years. ZachNCheese 0 Posted August 12, 2009 I did the same thing today with an AAV and didn't lose a single Marine, but I ran into an unforeseen problem. After I disengaged, I couldn't figure out how to rearm, refuel and repair my units. I selected the option from the driver's menu but he ignored it. Also, my infantry need more ammo, can I do all this at a forward base?
