How do i go about playing with a few friends in a server ?

I'm pretty new to this game and would just like to play with a few friends in an online server to get to grips with the game, but i can't seem to work it out.

Whenever i host a game and my friend attempts to join he receives an error:

'Connecting failed'

Apologies if this is a stupid question ! :o

You probably need to do a port forward in your routers settings.I think the games default port is 2302.This will allow incoming connections.

Its a lot of fun hosting.I and some friends do the same on a daily basis and it lets you get to know the game and practice for when you will be flying choppers etc on public servers without pissing anyone off.

Okay thanks, i think it must me a problem with a particular friend's internet connection as i opened ports etc. and he still cannot join (we have had problems with his connection in the past.)
