Loading old vanilla Arma maps in Arma 2 with CAA1 - Just Wow - Performance & Beauty

Saddly i get the same prob i already had in my A1 install so Sahrani tends to bring my GPU ram to overflow so i have to use the -flush command all the time to clear GPU ram otherwise i get nice polygon spikes flicker everywhere.

Really ? Never heard of that, whats your GPU ?

I tried to clarify the Yoma Addon Sync install and added some pictures.

HowToDownloadReleases # Yoma-Addon-Sync-Server

Also check the Install guides by contributors and

leave feedback in that given thread to point out still existing problems.

I guess this is caused by the mid detail texture.

Try to add this line to the config of Avghani:

midDetailTexture = "";

or

midDetailTexture = "\ca\Weapons\Data\clear_empty.paa";

1) Textures and RVMAT are not yet optimized. Might be one reason.

2) ArmA I vegetation is known to take a big toll on the GPU.

Does it happen in every part of the world?

CAA1 will at least stay without unofficial release until ArmA II tools are out.

As Marek posted the info in the BIKI last week, it seems they are close though.

So first the RVMAT, texture compression and a few other minor things must

be sorted. At the same time more helping hands for the project are needed.

Try to swap the caa1_p_plants.pbo with your a1 plants.pbo optimized by

noplants by.

Hi guys, could you please help me

CWR Islands (stand alone, no-mod)

"bin\config.bin/CfgNonAiVehicles/land_cwr_lampazel.simulation"

it shows this error at the main menu screen, it and doesn't list the islands

can anyone help me?

This mod is amazing, Sehrani for the first time to me looks amazing. Thanks guys!

Shame there arnt many missions around to use them.

What about the world of A1 missions Muzza - just search download sites.

Not saying they work perfectly fine out of the box, yet most should be

playable and enjoyable. :)

I guess my question is laughable for most.. kinda new to this still.. but here goes. ;)

I followed the Install guide by contributors and downloaded & extracted everything to the correct folders. Also made the ARMA2 shortcut with -mod=@CAA1;@OAC_core.

The thing is, when i start ARMA2 i don't know how to 'start' seeing the Sharani world.. :/ There's nothing visible in single player or campain. Am i doing something wrong?

Check the editor, you should be able to create some missions in the new map. ;)

Thanks thales and kju, Sharani shows up in the editor and multiplayer.

I have a new problem. Whenever i join a normal (vanilla) multiplayergame now, i get this error saying:

No entry 'bin\config.bin/RscDisplayMultiplayerSetup/controls/CA_B_West.sideToggle'.

Note that i get this error when i use the normal ARMA2 shortcut, not the CAA1 one. I think this started to happen after i installed this addon. Is that possible? I'm sure i followed the Install guide by contributors exactly..

I guess it might be what you said, I'll wait for the optimization.

And yes, it happends as soon as the map is loaded. Any map from Arma 1 and anywhere on the map if I'm not mistaken. (video card=ATI 4870-last drivers)

About the helping hand...What can I do to help ?

It is somehow strange to see the interest in this, considering all the bad things that has been thrown around about Sahrani island on these forums.

Thanks for the addon sync Yoma, this thing practically has the opportunity to install mods itself dependent on the server.

Im halfway into getting the 2 gig Caa1 addons now :)

Thank you for these islands. It is true that graphically are a bit worse than native arma2 islands (lower resolution of textures) but as stated in another thread, in case of A2: cpu is a bottleneck not gfx card. So it must be something else than only graphics complexity which affect fps performance.

However, the islands are still very interesting. I've read that A1 missions are not 100% compatible. It is true - I've checked a few. But is there any repository with working missions using these islands?

PS: I have problems with Yoma Synchronizer. Any attempts to connecting some some external resources return errors (importing server auto config, checking for addons). Also adding addon via RMB/open file doesn't do anything. I have W7 64b RC1. Could you help me or point to some support?

Do you need arma 1 to have the Sharani pbo? or can you download seperatly as an addon?

Have a read here http://dev-heaven.net/wiki/cbp-caa1/HowToDownloadReleases it guides you through the setup in order to run arma1 islands in arma2.

You dont need arma1 installed. thanks to the CAA1 crew.

i recommend however reading this thread from the first page, any further questions you have will have most likely already been answered.

Should be 1.03 problem, no? If you load no modfolder, only arma2\addons is loaded.

The OAC repository is what you are looking for.

The installer is not yet documented. Maybe tomorrow.

Yoma will gladly give you support in the YAS issue tracker. :)

In what you like most and do best is always a good idea. :)

Presentation and documentation of CAA1 and OAC is one idea.

Play-testing is another. Helping out in mission conversion and tweaking,

or making replacement addons. Getting the word out, helping others with problem.

Asking questions or adding answers to the FAQ.

Installed this yesterday and it works brilliant!

I started converting some of my ArmA1 missions.

(Gonna release a pack later)

Some findings beside the obvious changes with briefing/revive/Bas_f/triggers etc:

In a mission where I had enemy as partisan troops using the UPS the created additional patrols were shot by the host patrol.

I then opened the sqm and manually changed the troops as ArmA2 insurgents with search/replace function.No problems after that.

Anyway. Top notch work with this guys!!

I even tweaked my texture settings higher and it just ran fluent. :D

Well, in the sqm they were defined as "SlodierEB" etc as in arma1

However in original mission they were partisan troops from QG.

But when previewing in editor I checked with camera that all of them were changed as CDF troops. That's why they shot the spawned UPS units.

I just thought it was funny seeing them gunning down the spawned units in a pile.

Changing them manually was no big deal.

Oh, one more thing I had to adjust were the height set for some units set upon made bunkers.In original they had the height correct but in conversion they were knee deep in bunker roof.

Again, no big deal changing that. (from 3.25 to 3.60)

I don't mind the small issues m8.

This is just fantastic. I had Xmas last night. :)

Well, I've already changed the units but how about if I send you the original one as folders? You can try it out yourself and see the result.
