Turn off HT. 190.38 is not a good driver for A2, or universally for that matter. 182.50 is your best bet.
datter 0 Posted July 25, 2009 190.38 is working flawlessly for me, and in fact gave me a good FPS increase over the previous drivers both in XP and Win7 64bit.
bangtail 0 Posted July 25, 2009 (edited) 190.38 is working flawlessly for me, and in fact gave me a good FPS increase over the previous drivers both in XP and Win7 64bit. There is a huge thread at Guru3d detailing a slew of problems. I've experienced some of them myself, such as the fans remaining at 100% after playing certain games. Anything over 185.xx seem to have their own unique set of problems. This isn't really a surprise TBH. Nvidia is obviously having some teething problems with Win 7. Always about the FPS with you people. I will grant you that they are ok in XP. But the OP is talking about Win 7. Eth PS : No FPS gain for me over 182.50. Pretty much exactly the same in every game I play. Edited July 25, 2009 by BangTail
datter 0 Posted July 25, 2009 So am I... Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (RTM). I used the 190.38 beta's in XP (two days ago) and the 190.38 64bit official drivers now. Not to start an argument, I'm just saying that I've got absolutely no problems and these are easily the best drivers I've tried with ArmA2. I'd suggest the OP try the HT thing, as I agree that does impact a lot of i7 owners (not all though). I'd at least disable HT and try that before swapping out drivers. When there is a huge thread discussing the endless problems with these drivers on a respected 3D site, and I have experienced some of them myself, I conclude that these drivers are NOT stable and have problems that could potentially damage hardware. I'm not saying they don't run well for you, I'm saying that 182.50 is a better choice for A2 (under Win 7 and given his specific hardware) and that the newer Nvidia drivers are problematic on many, many systems and so as to avoid problems, the OP is better off sticking with a stable and reliable driver. Having said that, we also have to remember that i7's have issues under Win 7 with A2 so the 190's may be better for non i7 systems. However, I never use drivers with reported fan problems for the simple reason that they could irreversibly damage your hardware. datter 0 Posted July 25, 2009 I monitor my GPU temps and fans at all times (G15 LCD display) so I'm not overly worried supposing the problem crops up on my Q6600 somehow. I'll have to dig around the forums a bit though, I'd be interested in reading about this issue as I might have experienced something like it before.

You can't watch them when you are not at your PC. 190.38 - mostly complaints http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=300867 190.40 - newer thread with the same problems as 190.38 http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=301163 Eth Edited July 25, 2009 by BangTail
