FINALCUT 10 Posted July 18, 2009 that has got to be the ugliest weapon i have ever seen.it looks like those giant nerf guns that the kids are playing with these days,or something out of Star Wars episode 1,2 and 3.
Windexglow 10 Posted July 18, 2009 So? It's designed for killing (and non-lethal rounds) , not to win pretty contests.
Murklor 10 Posted July 18, 2009 Ugly? Its a beatifull weapon! I'd love to carry it in combat. I'm a sucker for anything explosive.
Xenios 0 Posted July 18, 2009 It is an odd oversight. They had the Russian equivalent in Queen's Gambit, the 6G30--although it was hard to find. I'm sure it will return when ACE 2 comes out, since it was in the original ACE.
galzohar 31 Posted July 18, 2009 I have to admit that while I've seen a lot of weapons IRL and in videos, I've never seen this weapon getting practical use outside of computer games and demonstration videos. Anyone actually been deployed with that weapon?...

akd42 10 Posted July 18, 2009 (edited) Every squad in the Marines has 2 of them.MGL-140 No they don't. That was the floated plan at one point, but so far only limited fielding has been achieved, and in that limited fielding there has apparently been some dissatisfaction. Heatseeker 0 Posted July 18, 2009 see, eagle concurs with me.it looks like a toy or a "space gun".something marvin the martian would carry.lol. You have poor taste, what if they gave us the MGL and you get to carry the "blopper"? Arnie style :D .

I never said it looks like a toy To me it looks like a assault rifle but swapped in with grenade launchers. Doesn't look bad at all.
galzohar 31 Posted July 18, 2009 It just doesn't look practical. As a main weapon it's too ineffective for killing people due to being limited to only 6 shots before a long reload sequence is needed. As a secondary weapon it's probably just too much to switch and too much to do to pull it out and use it when needed - might as well use M203. Sure M203 doesn't have 6 round magazine but it's also much lighter and is much faster to "transition" to from your "main rifle". It sure was nice though on GRAW2 on the mission where I had a mule (infinite ammo supply) following me, blowing up a bunch of snipers that I had their positions in advance due to overly-high-res satellite picture. galzohar 31 Posted July 19, 2009 My brother carried it in Iraq. Assuming you're not making it up - as a main weapon or as a secondary? What is the exact loadout?
Windexglow 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Probably primary - the weapon doesn't look light, ammo isn't either, and requires a bit of training.
Cheeba 10 Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) Its mainly deployed in urban environments due to its effective "area-cleaner" skills. Fires more rounds and is faster than an m203, its a prime weapon for neutralizing emplaced weaponry/enemies in a relatively safer way (being in urban combat, the operator normally has many areas to get in cover for reload or safety). Also, given its abilities to use multiple types of ammunition (ie; flares for night missions or a disposable mini UAV camera fired into the air for recon over towns) it certainly has its uses in the open countryside....tho it wont be as efficient. ACE2 shall hopefully deliver. M32 action - Edited July 19, 2009 by Cheeba
Apocal 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Every squad in the Marines has 2 of them. Highly dubious, considering the number purchased by the USMC would not cover three battalions.
galzohar 31 Posted July 19, 2009 I don't know about you, but I definitely wouldn't like to get caught with that weapon as my only defense in a close encounter. As far as I understand it's the exact same ammo as M203, so any nasty trick you can do with this weapon's ammo you can do with M203.

As far as I understand it actually uses longer rounds that have twice the lethal radius of the old M203 round.
Sulu 10 Posted July 19, 2009 Lol, isn't this the weapon in Transformers? Yeah it is, and in Transformers they use sabot rounds in it. Last time I checked sabot rounds were tank shells but maybe I'm wrong :P

It's more of a "weapons system" then a standard m203. There's no comparison. I haven't used one myself but did get to see a test, it's a pretty damn wicked weapon. http://www.defensereview.com/new-milkor-mgl-140mei-hyper-lethal-40mm-comboweapon-system-for-infantry/ Sulu, Na, SABOT rounds are made for many firearms. It's more or less just a sleeve around projectile that gives higher velocities and flatter trajectory, there's more to it than that as well. You may be thinking of DU(depleted uranium) SABOT shell. http://www.sabotreloadingpro.com/ Edited July 19, 2009 by Manzilla
