UH-1Y with CCTV

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to use the CCTV system on the UH-1Y Venom?

There are a few birds in game with optical systems (CCTV,FLIR) onboard... can u use them for better targetting/aiming??

Sorry, if this has already been answered, but I searched and found nothing!

You need to go into he co-pilot's seat... The zoom on the camera mounted on the chin of the chopper is good.....u can see for miles + u can laser designate!

Woot Woot

Choppers spotting for Harriers ftw... :yay:

How do you switch to co-pilot ??

Well you cannot simply switch seats. If you are the pilot and switch over to co pilot, then who is going to fly? You would need to either spawn in as the co pilot or make a playable character that enters your helo on start. So you would put down a pilot character on your map and select him as playabe. You set down yourself as well as another pilot. Then set down an empty huey. Then use the moveIn<position> command in the init of each pilot. When the missions starts both pilots should be in the helicopter. This is the only way i know of making a playable copilot.

Ok, so having a co-pilot doesn't change anything....

I switch to co-pilot/gunner position and I just have the normal "out-of-the-cockpit" view from the co-pilot, but I can't use the CCTV camera on the Venom or the FLIR on the Cobra or Kiowa in order to zoom in.

Anybody got any suggestions??

You have to hit your optics key to use it when you are in the seat next to the pilot in the UH-1Y.

FLIR on the Cobra or Kiowa in order to zoom in.

Back up a second, there is no FLIR in this game, just nightvision and the choppers camera... but i REALLY hope i'm wrong and that i've missed something in this game...

...we are talking about Forward Looking Infra Red aren't we? (as seen in this picture)

Yes there is FLIR in the UAV. It will most definatelly be refined and slapped onto the rest of the vehicles that should have it. By Addon makers for sure - maybe some update by BIS.

The Kiowa will be get a FLIR soon, just like the UAV has.

I am not sure about the cobra??

I've never knew, now i just need to find out how to use it, i'm guessing making a mission in the editor and spawning as the gunner doesn't really do the trick, can someone link me to a tutorial or mission where you can use this?

EDIT:

never mind, just stumbled accross a youtube video, thanks anyway!

Really makes me wonder why BIS didn't do it in the first place... they have a perfect brightness adjusting system and it can't be that hard to move it over to the other choppers tanks etc, maybe there is some sort of contract with the countries that use VBS(1&2) that doesn't allow BIS to implement FLIR into the other vehicles, but there's a loophole that lets them implement it into UAV's and so they exploited this loophole to give the community what they want because they MUST have known that the community could easily add it to the other vehicles.

But thats just a guess.
