Complaint about MP

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have been playing the demo for arma2 all week, and I've really enjoyed it. I loved the small 6 man coop missions and the fact I could make small custom missions for a team of 6. It was all very accessible, user friendly, and I could get straight into the action.

Now I've bought the full game I've found that the multiplayer is completely different. I was expecting to find the same small scale, teamwork orientated missions like in the demo. But instead I find massive servers, hosting massive maps which a new player has no idea what to do on. You spawn in the middle of nowhere, you have no idea where to go or what to do.

I cannot find small, 6 man servers like there were in the demo, which was why I got the game. Playing with a 6 man team was really fun and exciting. But now I just run around a massive map and when I do eventually find the enemy they're all dead, nobody helps. I mean wtf!

Why are the demo and actual game MP so different? Bit misleading and I totally regret my purchase of the full game :(

Anyone else found this to be the case?

The servers and what people choose to play on them is hardly BIS' business, if that's who you're complaining at. It's sad that so many like to start a game of Evolution, Warfare etc on their own empty server when there are existing ones that could use a boost in the player count, but that's Arma 2 community for you.

BIS could've at least released good baseline multiplayer missions. Right now all missions that are ran online are user-made, and most have pretty terrible (or if you're lucky just bad) gameplay. We'll probably have to wait for people to make better missions that are more playable (without requiring a pre-organized group that has everyone in it know the mission inside out, and even then not being too great), and for server administrators to run them.
