That could be it. The priest does tell you to go to Novy Sobor and talk to the guys but I don't remember if they gave me the intel because I had already accidently ran into the base. They tell you that there are 6 scout camps around the main base (though I have only found 4 and still finished that objective), so I guess they know the location of the main base and add it to your map. Still just a possibility. Locations of Sentry Camps + 2 other interesting places: The first 5 can be found on this map. Warning that has a lot of other information on it to. If you don't want other locations spoiled don't look at it. 081 051: 6th Sentry Camp 100 037: Camp near LZ that uazs come from. I also ran into some sort of camp near the coast around black lake.
