What does it take... to use ArmA2 objects in V3

Install the new tools :) then you see wehre, same like with a1 tools.

Its out and the problems I have with the ArmA2 plants is still present.

To get the plants working in visitor

you have to create a directory PLANTS2 in your CA directory.

into this directory you have depbo all the plants pbo`s. and remove the plants2_ from the name.

So that it looks like this

CA\plants2\clutter

CA\plants2\plants

CA\plants2\trees

etc...

Shit, they are all useless boring autumn plants? What are we supposed to do now, wait for a 3rd party addon or use a 450mb file from A1? :o

You can recolor them :) I hope someone will do a replacement for them, like it was with arma1 autumn plants.

Waterman: afaik BIS dropped out forests with ArmA, you have to "plant" them yourself, copy&paste might help, not to mention great tool(script) named RandomObjectPlacer_V1.1.1.vis ;)

p.s. new autumn trees look like cowshit, I'm postponing the conversion of my island until/if BIS fixes:

1. new hut_old02 (hangar) shadow is bugged, thus making this great A1 object useless, I have a lot of 'em on my map

2. bunch of stuff they removed like: hospoda_mesto (A1 pub/inn) and all army huts(!)

3. bunch of rocks objects missing

4. plants like palms that are cruical for island conversions

5. guide for new clutter configs

etc,etc.

Ok, so I make them myself. One question I have though is if your placing lots of individual trees next to each other how do you get it to show as a forest on the map (block of green) like on here: Map of Chernarus

Done automatically:

a) as long as you place objects with Named_Properties 'tree'

b) have enough vegetation next to each other

Configuration in config:

minTreesInForestSquare = 5;

minRocksInRockSquare = 4;

Any way to name groups of already placed trees? A script maybe? Or do i have to replace all of them with named ones :o

You can create forests in Visitor 3. The only problem is that they're perfectly square (a tree is at same place in every row/column) and kill the heck outta your framerate in buldozer. no randomization at all.

Hmmm.... thats handy to know... a lot of Scottish forests are actually managed by the Forestry Commission and ARE planted in neat, regular rows... I'll have to experiment with that..... :)
