chlywly 10 Posted July 6, 2009 I'm sure many of you are as frustrated as I, considering I spent well over $50 on a piece of software, and considering I just spent close to $700 on a video-card specifically for that peice of software to find out that it does not work. My Specs: Vista 64 + 8 gigs of ram Rampage Formula, Q6600 Quad-core OC'd @ 3.4ghz BFG Geforce GTX 295 + latest NV drivers STEAM ARMA2, I have tried making a shortcut with -winxp, and it does not seem to help. I tried downloading the EVGA SLI util, I have tried renaming the shortcut to crysis64. When I enter the game, it stutters, on top of this stutter the textures load extremely SLOWLY and then they do not fully load. 1/2 of them don't load and the other 1/2 look like they are extremely low quality. I'm trying to play on VERY HIGH.. @ 1920.... Any ideas?!?

You can't just max everything and expect decent FPS mate. 182.50 drivers are best for A2 JFYI. I've tested the newer ones on several different rigs and have not enjoyed the results (and that's not restricted to A2) Eth

Mainly though, the textures simply don't load. My system is pretty damn good, I should be able to play maxed without any issues.
FraG_AU 10 Posted July 6, 2009 LOL, welcome to the matrix. Sli is hard to get going and even then you really wont notice the benefits in SIngle Player missions as they destroy the FPS. As suggested above try 182.5's. I dont know if you can do it with steam, but rename your exe to crysis64.exe (or just crysis for 32 bit os) and see if that kicks SLi in? Don't know what FPS you are getting now, but when testing FPS i really suggest you turn V-sync off and use the editor part of game + FRAPS.. For example I get 35-40 in say Razor Two, but in the editor I get 140-160FPS in same spot.. At the moment Nvidia and this game ====== MASSIVE headache, but you should be able to reach 40-50 in say MP quite easily once everything is going. PS> If you can't use the rename trick to get SLi going, perhaps you can use nhance to load the profile (i think there is post already if you search which outlines this for steam users)
bangtail 0 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) FPS seem okay, but I get stutters.. Mainly though, the textures simply don't load. My system is pretty damn good, I should be able to play maxed without any issues. I found that the stuttering in Win7/Vista was directly related to 1. HT (that problem can be solved by turning it off) 2. Inexplicable CPU spikes (unfortunately this will likely require intervention from BIS). 3. I don't use 295s and I actually refuse to sell them as I have had problems with these "dual GPU" cards in the past but it seems there is a problem with them as well; judging by the fact that SLI (in my experience is fine) and the 295's SLI is seemingly borked. chlywly 10 Posted July 6, 2009 Appreciate the feedback will try it out, any ideas why my textures simply aren't loading though even with the -winxp trick? It's very strange.

The only thing I can suggest is "Texture detail" and not setting it any higher than "Normal". Eth
FraG_AU 10 Posted July 7, 2009 Check in your .cfg profiles and see what your GPU has been detected as memory wise. If you can use the crysis64.exe rename trick, try running with and without the -winxp flag. It worked better for me without..
chlywly 10 Posted July 7, 2009 Well it seems I finally got it running, not sure how... but probably a mix of trying the rename trick, using -winxp, adjusting the memory in the .cfg file and using nhancer crysis profile. However, now that the game is running relativelly well (except when a map loads up its chop city) It crashes and reboots my computer after 5-10mins of playing...... Eghrrrrrr.... Really annoying. Just for arguments sake, have you tried running with your current tweaks / settings etc but with the CPU @ stock. Also have a Q6600 I run 3.375 . @ 3.4 I can be stable in prime for about 4-5 hours but it will crash A2 after some time.

Sorry its actually a Q9550 quad, very stable at 3.4 I can take it much higher :) I have not attempted stock.

It's in the game itself where Fps are most important. Not the editor where there is only you and nothing else going on.
