Ish 11 Posted July 3, 2009 Well as the title states, my settings (gfx/controls) keeps resetting, even though I've checked the cfg's as read only. What the hell? Any ideas?
private plowjoy 0 Posted July 3, 2009 The obvious question is, is the CFG being made read only after you've set everything up via in-game, or before?
Ish 11 Posted July 3, 2009 Without the game started, I uncheck the read only, apply what I settings i want. Reapply read only, and start the game. When I enter video options it still is the default settings. Which wouldn't be all that bad, if my machine could handle it, but it can't. Not at a steady fps anyway. Placebo 12 Posted July 3, 2009 Have you searched your hard drive to make sure you somehow don't have another cfg under another user profile (such as default/admin) and it's the wrong one being reset?

Yeah, that's the next step. Make sure you're editing the correct CFG.
Ish 11 Posted July 3, 2009 If you mean the correct profile cfg, then yes.. And I managed to get it right now as well. But now I'm getting memory crashes instead lol. I did turn off my page file, but I reckon 4gb should be enough? I got 2x 512mb VRAM as well. (8800 GTS in sli).. ---------- Post added at 01:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:37 PM ---------- Ok now im getting "Error creating Direct3D 9 Graphical engine" when I try to run the game.. Placebo 12 Posted July 3, 2009 Sounds like perhaps you did something to the cfg it didn't like? Try backing it up somewhere, then deleting it and letting ArmA make a new one.

You're creating too many potential problems. Get the game running first and then start to play with the various system settings (such as disabling the page). Bulldogs 10 Posted July 3, 2009 I'd suggest not making your cfg file read only and just try setting it up in game. Also, if I read that right you said you disabled your page file? If so, bad idea. Windows is designed to access the page file even if it's not needed, disabling it can cause all sorts of problems
Ish 11 Posted July 3, 2009 Page file can slow the system down.. It's only useful if you have insufficent RAM.. Problem solved btw.. A reinstall of the display drivers was needed. ---------- Post added at 02:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:38 PM ---------- The whole point of making it read only is to make it possible to save your settings, which is not otherwise possible. The settings will reset themselves to default. Which was kinda the problem in my opening post..
