nomadski 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Ive just bought Arma 2 off a friend who wasnt keen on it. I installed it, and it loads and plays vanilla Arma 2 ok, but when I try to install ANY of the patches from the official website links after extraction it comes up with something like... "error in addons\air2.pbo" I cancel, and the next box reports the downloaded file may be corrupted and try downloading again. Ive downloaded from about 5 different sources this 1.2.58134 patch and I cant get it to install. Please help :( Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

nomadski 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Well the first time I installed, it came up with some error. So I installed it again, and everything went fine. Then I tried getting the various patches and they all come up with this error. Ive just tried copying the ADDON folder from the cd to the hd and that got me to 4% but came up with the same error, except was for the next pbo file (anims I think). Next time I tried patching it went back to error at 3% in the air2.pbo file again. Also has this info in the next box... ArmA 2: Updating version 1.01 to version 1.02... Update 1.01-1.02\ADDONS\AIR2.PBO.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1 Some error occurred during patch installation. Patch file is probably dammaged. You may need to download it again. Error in file ADDONS\air2.pbo, phase 1. Will try installing for a 3rd time but getting pretty pssd at this, friend didnt have any issues regarding install or patching apparently. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
fitzee 5 Posted July 1, 2009 Hi. You wont like this but its probaly a data integrity issue with your hd or ram. I've experienced same with ofp and arma1. Other games and software will install, function and update without any problem but these BI patches do a file check and get errors. :confused: With new hardware my old ofp and arma discs install and update without error, so it isnt/wasnt the cd/dvd. nomadski 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Well I tried installing the game from the HD, ie copying files over from cd, and couldnt get past CRC errors. I then installed again from cd, and then applied patch. This came up with one error (see message below) right at the end but I ignored it and it seems to have completed the update. What a total carry on. Please be patient. This update may appear to take a long time to complete. It is updating and installing very large data. ArmA 2: Updating version 1.01 to version 1.02... Error found in file addons\ui.pbo (2fe3d889!=02891d28) ArmA 2 patch 1.02 has been applied successfully. I have a hard time believing its a hardware issue. Firstly the ram is pretty top grade stuff, the HD is relatively new, and the errors are inconsistent and (correct me if im wrong) relate to installation files, not hardware issues, but I stand to be corrected. What tests would you suggest I run, to check the integrity of my memory and hard drive, just so I can definetely rule that out? UGLY58 10 Posted December 24, 2011 (edited) Nomadski, I have exactly the same error on the same file. Six Updater has a CRC checker and that shows that my common/air2.pbo fails crc checks. Here is the error I get So far I have, 1: Copied corrupted files from DVD and over written these reported failed CRC files - same 2: Copied across same files from my servers which are originally from my copy - same 3: Tried 4 different sources of the Patch - same 4: Copied across same files from a friends installation - same I guess a re-install may be my only option ??????? UGLY58 10 Posted December 24, 2011 Update, Re-install hangs with similar problems. Suspected its the hard drive, did a full thorough scan last night and no bad sectors, no issues. UGLY58 10 Posted December 25, 2011 Still cannot patch, Have now tried a full fresh install from DVDs - runs fine afterwards at un-patched levels. I apply the patch it shows the same errors at post 6. I move hard drives to rule that out - same again as post 6 I have tried just about everything possible that I or any online friends can think of. We all run servers and arma groups. UGLY58 10 Posted December 27, 2011 Update, Well I managed to get the patch to run all the way through and install, but it still reported errors on those same damn files. However I am up and running on 1.60. 1. Disabled Auto Scan on my Anti-Virus. Then re downloaded the patch, this resulted in the above being achieved. PvP a. Nothing on it wiped clean, But there were no entries of any consequence. b. I hash checked through SU prior to successful install. It correctly showed what the patch was saying CRC check fail on the files listed earlier. 1-60 Patch both before and after disabling anti-virus auto scan passed crc check. c. Patch order - Install fresh A2 from DVD, Install OA and auto patch A2 from DVD. Then Patch to 1.60 the stick point. I did try using earlier patches first - same deal. Prof That is maybe an idea may try that. Dwarden Looked at that, have 500GB spare on installation drive. So at the end of this I can play again :) HOWEVER - Now I cannot run the installations for BAF or PMC. The crash out on an Appcrash as soon as they try and run. Note that through this time I have been installing and running loads of other software. Done memory tests, Hard Drive tests. I don`t seem to have any issues except with BIS software ! UGLY58 10 Posted December 30, 2011 I still cannot install the PMC or BAF patches. BAF gives me this on running the setup. Same for PMC. Does anyone have the CRC for these downloads so I can at least check I have downloaded these correctly.Note that my BAF is from Gamergate and my PMC from Sprocket so two different download sources. Using both to install results in the same. I had them installed correctly until I had the problems associated with the 1.6 patch detailed above. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Penfolde 1 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) I'm getting the same sort errors as Ugly58, Tried reinstalling the game and then applying the patches but I still get the same errors messages. I also tried just ignoring the errors (running the auto update software multiple time) but the auto update exists before completion. Anyone managed to get a work around yet? Manage to unpack the complete patch so I'm not running it from a zip file, The Arma2 part of the patch installs ok upto 1.11 but the OA part fails , can however update the pmc and baf part of th epatch if click on abort. ProfTournesol - You were the winner, as soon as I restarted in Safe Mode then I could install both without a hitch. I imagine that was the same error that was causing my issues with the 1.6 Patch, something in Windows is preventing the files from running successfully. It does not prevent me from downloading and installing other programs or files, but something in my windows hates BIS software. Thanks for all the help, especially ViperMaul who spent half of his Christmas Eve trying to help me. Penfolde - restart f8 safe mode, install, restart, worked for me with BAF and PMC. Penfolde 1 Posted January 2, 2012 I've done it!! I downloaded fresh patches from the arma site, Then when it came to the 1.60 patch,... I ran window's in safemode and then ran the 1.60 patch.
