stun 5 Posted June 29, 2009 Does anyone else find the subordinate units too aggressive to the point of being suicidal? I have noticed that the subordinate AI appears to by default take a stance of "open fire, engage at will" and sends units off in small groups to get massacred. Does anyone know of a way to get subordinate units to hold formation? Was AI behaviour in High Command this aggressive prior to patch 1.02? I would prefer it if the default stance was open fire and that subordinate units held formation, but that an option existed so that you can order them to to engage. dvolk 10 Posted June 29, 2009 Another issue seems to be that after a while they ignore commands completely. Targets on the menu are marked T0, T1, T2,... yeah, okay. Really useful. Also, what's the % on the squad circle on the map? I thought it was how many units in the squad are still alive, but once I got half my squad killed and on the map it said 91%? Thankfully you can rambo the whole campaign.
stun 5 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) I have to admit my main concern is how this affects tactics. Say for example you wanted to order a fire team to hold position to lay down suppressing fire while another team flanks the enemy. At the moment it's not possible because your suppressing team will just attack the enemy 2 at a time until it is wiped out. The only tactic that can be used at the moment is a massed assault of units at an enemy position because as soon as your AI subordinates spot the enemy the will just charge anyway. I hope BIS give us finer control of subordinate units in upcoming patches, as the High Command module is very promising.
