Like myself, some of you may have experienced a black screen error whilst playing arma 2. Well i may have found a temporary fix for some people by changing a few settings in game and on the icon.

When i first go the game i did not experience this problem and i had all my settings to the very highest and had changed a few of the draw distnace settings aswell (This was with update 2.01) and i was playing the boot camp.

But after starting the real campaign, after a while i started getting these black screen graphics card errors, which seemed very odd.

So basically i exited the game and this is what i did to fix my errors:

Right clicked on the arma 2 icon, i then set it to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

I then went back into the games VIDEO settings and clicked on SET TO DEFAULT for the video settings. Now the IMPORTANT thing here is not to change any of the BASIC view distance settings as i think this is one of the reasons for the errors.

Then the next step is to set all the advanced settings to the same level whether it be low, medium or high, depending on your graphics cards memory. I own a Geforce 9800GTX+ so i personally set everything to the HIGH setting, which i believe is reccomended for a 512mb card.

Make sure video memory and terrain detail are set to the same level, for example High and High. Then for your screen resoloution and game resoloution quality, set them to the same, for example 1280x1024 and 1280x1024. After that just apply settings.

Then hopefully the game should run without any crashing and should run at a reasonable framerate.

One other thing i have found with the game is that if you leave it on the pause screen for too long whilst in game it seems to crash on occasions, so try to avoid doing this aswell.

I hope this has helped someone, just wanted to post my findings, as i found it quite interesting.

Just to give you an idea, my specs are as follows:

Antec 900 Gaming Case + extra coolermaster fans.

Windows Vista 32

QuadCore 6600 2.4ghz

Geforce 9800GTX+ 512mb

4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
