Thx :)

I have one problem now.

For some reason both programs don´t let me adjust the fan. It´s greyed out.

Now, that worries me.

Can that be due to the driver ?

Or does my card have disipation instead of fan ?

Duno. I will try to install the latest Asus drivers, cause the card is Asus.

ASUS used a different fan control chip than the refrence board so ntune wont work to change fan speed.

I had one of those cards and the only way you can control the fan is with ASUS smartdoctor...for smartdoctor to work though you also need to install a second driver called GamerOSD...smartdoc wont work without it. Both available at asus website.

Note: this is in addition to the nvidia refrence driver, the nvidia driver on their website is the same as what you can get from nvidia and asus doesnt update theirs every version so I always use the newest from nvidia.

Do it in this order:

1) Install Nvidia driver-reboot

2) Install gamerosd-reboot

3) Install SMartDoc

Hey guys, you should try the 182.50 drivers, since i installed the latest nvidia drivers i started having CTD all the time and VERY slow loading textures no matter my settings, i went back to 182.50, the CTD's are gone (at least so far) and now im able to run EVERYTHING on VERY high with a 8800GT, textures are not slow loading anymore and i get 20-30 FPS most of the time with some slowdowns but still playable (i know thats not great for some of you, but thats what i used to get with everything set on low/normal). The only problem with those drivers is that now all my colours look too "alive", no idea how to fix it yet ^^ good luck

I've considered dropping back a few driver versions, out of the 190's anyway... just wasn't sure where to settle. Maybe I'll give 182.50 a shot, though as I recall I got a great boost frame rate wise going to 190.38... back before Win7 + 8gb ram that is.

Vista 64

i7 920 @ 3.6

12 GB DDR3

GTX 295

GPU Driver: 190.62

I've had some sporadic texture problems (I know 295 right lol) primarily at speed when in a vehicle. I managed to get them down to a reasonable level and have been enjoying the game. I just installed the 190.62 64 bit WHQL driver set after a complete Safe Mode driver clean out (driver cleaner) and am really pleased with the results. Not a single anamoly since installation. Sorry I don't have any FPS data but it certainly hasn't degraded the 'feel' of the game. Just thought I'd mention it.

.

.

Oh and regarding the installation of these drivers. I know from past experience that drivers installed over other drivers (eg runnning the driver .exe and letting it do it all) leave a variety of remnants behind. I used driver sweeper (3D Guru) for a long time with decent results before moving to driver cleaner ($10 USD) and I am amazed at the things driver cleaner finds and cleans out. Best ten bucks I've spent in recent memory. Even nVidia doesn't recommend just running the executable and installing drivers over drivers as this will produce a witches brew with unpredicatable results.

From nVidia:

When an NVIDIA display driver update is performed, the new driver will remove the previous drivers during the installation processor. Sometimes it is not successful in removing the older display drivers which can lead to display issues later on as a result of conflicting drivers. As a basic practice, it is recommended that you first uninstall the older display drivers before updating to a newer version.

.

.

Good Luck

Nvidia Forceware 190.62 WHQL is out. Anybody tried it yet?

For ref..

Win 7 RC 7100

Quad 9650 @ 4.05ghz

4gb ddr2 1066mhz

GTX 280

Nvidia 190.62 whql

I cant believe the difference these latest drivers (190.62) have made to the game.I now am getting a 50% or more increase in fps since i installed them.I can even put shadows and grass to max with AA on low now and still get the 50% increase.

One thing that imediately stood out was that textures when zooming in on things or walking up to them now have a very smooth transition from the low detail of distance to the higher detail of being close up.So smooth that the change is not noticable where as before it was like a big step of a change.Playing the in game scenarios i am now hitting a high of approx 120-130 fps and an average of about 85.All this is at a reslolution of 1680x1050 and matching 3D reolution. Also most of the graphics settings are on high or very high with the exception of the potprocess which is turned off (i dont like it).I used driver sweeper before i installed 190.62.

I`ve found no problems with the drivers since i installed them but have only played for maybe 5 or 6 hours so far.

Can anyone test if they're better then 185.85 ? Installed a few 190.xx but always went back to 185.85 because of best framerate.

If you can't breach 30fps in MP no matter what setting you use, I'd suggest switching to XP or trying out Windows 7 as it is still free the try out for a few more months. I had the same problem with Vista in ArmA2.

Yes it's still free to get a product key but Microsoft is no longer offering downloads of the release candidate. Vista in and of itself will not limit frames. What Vista will do is devour resources as it is the most incredibly bloated OS of all time. If the OS is a concern try minimizing the resources it's using (to start with turn off that SideBar). Good Luck.

Vista limited my FPS to 33 on 2 different builds my current build is one of them. I did everything I could to get the fps unlocked but it was set similar to a vsync at 33. Lots of others had this 33 issue with vista as well.

I switched to W7 and my fps is through the roof now. No more 33 BS.

LOL... why do people feel the need to lie about the system specs, especially in a thread where they are important......

soooo a socket 775 CPU with DDR3, and your using triple channel with 8GB lol?

DDR3 = X58 since the memory controller is on the CPU Die, therefore ddr3 doesn't work with P45/48 Chipsets, nor will it!

I would like you to apologize... it's obvious you need help with your tech skills a bit yourself. Just as an example: http://www.superwarehouse.com/ASUS_P45_SOCKET_775_DC_MAX-8GB_DDR3/P5QC/p/1533300

Ren,

Same setup basically as detailed in your first post. I can play nicely in all areas except for cities. The lighting is causing CTD or complete freeze up. Sometimes it will crash the drivers and the desktop will appear in 8 bit color, and you have to reboot.

I have yet to install the newest drivers (1.90...) but I will do so today after work and see if it makes a difference.

I had some success but I hope turning physx off and the new drivers will at least make the game playable. Very odd I am getting between 60 and 100 frames/ps with all high settings in 1878x1024 (or something close) in the open fields but like I said this bug is def. related to how the 8800 GT is processing light reflections from buildings and spotlights. I have a reproducable CTD that is only reproduced when I look at the spotlight in front of me, otherwise I can continue on without any problems.

Hi all, i'm going crazy with my sli system (2xgtx280).

My rig is the following:

i7 920@3,6ghz

3gb Corsair

2xgtx280

Nvidia driver 190.38

Vista Ultimate 64bit

I cant get one frames more swithcing from Single Gpu to Sli mode. I tried every possible solutions found on the web:

- remaning armaII.exe in crysis.exe

- winxp parameter on sortcut

- forcing AFR2 in Nvidia panel

- forcing vsync off

- using nHancer to create a Sli profile

- using Nvidia SLI patch

None works :(:(

Nhancer load balancing graphs are working, and the green bars are moving, but i cant get one frames more. Please help me. :butbut:

Hello, I'm 'using an automatic translator, I write for "ArmA 2 + SLI" I ask whether the new nvidia 190.62 drivers still need to install the beta patch and drivers evga sli 2009/07/07.

What operating system do you recommend Vista or XP?

hello thanks

No, you do not need the EVGA patch nor the NVidia beta patch. The settings for ArmA2 (including SLI) in these patches are included in 190.62 drivers.

I finally got the latest nvidia drivers for the 8800 GT/1Gig, also updated nForce drivers and a small patch was out for directx.

Before doing the above I could run Arma 2 in normal or high settings at 1878/1024 and it would be ok until you went into a city and then the game would start glitching and finally CTD in 8 bit color. (Nvdia drivers would crash out completely)

After doing all these updates and following the instructions on the first page, the game now randomly crashes at any time, and in much lower resolutions. I can get about 10 - 15 minutes of gaming in, and then crash->reboot.

My vid card is not overheating (52C) after 15 minutes of play. I really loved OFP, but never had a chance to play Arma 1, so as you can expect when I saw this coming out I was pretty excited, PLEASE (BI) go and spend $50 on a 8800 GT and resolve the problems.

I'm not going to spend $200 more just to play this game when Crysis/Doom 3/GTA al work fine, without problems on high settings.

BTW my comp is very clean, almost no services running(no internet connection) very few background programs, no viruses, malware, spyware)

Well me and you are running very similar rigs So I'll tell you how mine is setup for reference.

The MAJOR difference between me and you is Vista Vs Windows 7.

I was running vista at first but had major issues. I partitioned my drive and installed windows 7 and my performance with arma 2 skyrocketed.

And what is your fps with vista? For some reason vista locked my fps at 33 on arma 2. Lots of others had the same problem.

I run:

190.62 drivers.

1680 x 1050

Hyper Threading = off (in the bios)

Nvidia CP settings

Ambient Occlusion = OFF atm.

AF= Application Controlled

Gamma Correction=On

AA= Application controlled

Transparency= off

Texture Clamp=Use Hardware

Pre-Rendered Frames=8

Single Display performance Mode

Maximum Performance

SLI-Force alternate frame rendering 2

Texture Filtering = on

Texture filtering/neg bias=clamp

Quality=High Performance

Trilinear Optimization= on

Threaded optimization=on

Triple buffering=off

Vsync=off

Game resolution 1680x1050/1680x1050 100%

All settings Very High/PP Low due to preference

With these settings I can run Arma 2 maxxed out with full grass and rarely ever see a dip under 30. Usually 30-50.

If I disable grass I can see upwards of 100fps. Put AA and AF on normal and performance really climbs. However I usually leave them very high, sometimes I tweak them down when fighting in Electrovodsk.

Ok, i'll try W7, but i read about people running Vista 64 who can get their SLi working.

Some people have had good luck with vista. I'm not one of them.

What is your fps in game right now. My bet is that your dealing with the old vista 33 fps issue like I posted.

If so, your sli is probably working, your just not seeing a gain because your hitting a v/sync like ceiling.
