Luke14789 10 Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) Zdravim vsechny borce co stoji za touto bajecnou simulaci.:p Here is my problem, When I have my shadows on "Normal" setting, the edges are smooth, however the shadows are quite blocky. here is an example : When I turn the setting to "Very High", the shadows shape very good, but the texture and edges are awful, an example here : I run ATI Catalyst 9.5 with 4870x2, Q9550 at 3.4 and 4GB mem. Is there a setting in catalyst for this to smoothen out ? Or is that just how the game's engine is ? Thanks everyone for any valuable info regarding this matter. ModeZt 0 Posted June 26, 2009 It's ok. Theese are different methods of rendering shadows. The "Very High" uses shaders, and the "Normal" uses shadow maps. (i may be wrong about exact names). So the Normal is more CPU demanding and High is more shader demanding. Jaggy edges may seem bad to you but for trees and grass the "high" method gives better picture. nodunit 397 Posted June 26, 2009 Shadow maps are only for shrubbery, when it comes to infantry, vehicles, structure, weapons and so on the shadow is generated by a shadow LOD. Curious though as to why infantry have the shader based shadows, vehicles do not.
