Rusty In Places is a multi-national, multi-gaming, competitive clan. With the event of our 2 Year Anniversary we have surpassed the lifespan of many other clans. A great number of our members have come into RIP due to the demise of their gaming associations, regrettable in itself, however they have come looking for the stability and camaraderie that exists in RIP.

The Clan was formed in December 2006, and was founded by a group of 12 friends, mainly European, with all the skillsets required to get great servers up and running quickly. The public engaged in the servers, and enjoying the way that they were run and adminned quickly began putting in application posts in our forums. RIP expanded exponentially, at great speed, both in Europe and the United States. More servers were allocated as the ranks grew, and by mid 2007 we were running a colossal 20 gaming servers. These included Medal Of Honour (Pacific Assault), Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Call of Duty 2, And Counter Strike Source, all on RIP dedicated server boxes. As the clan expanded so did the server listing, and we have run every major game release since then, ranging from Call Of Duty 4 and World at War, through Team Fortress 2, Live for Speed, Guild Wars, EVE Online, and a plethora of other titles.

Currently the majority of our servers are running a variant of ArmA, ArmA 2 Call Of Duty4/5, Project Reality, or Battlefield 2142. However, we also have other servers running Battlefield 2, Counter Strike Source, Left For Dead, and Team Fortress 2, with dedicated EVE Channel within Ventrilo. We are always abreast of the latest developments in the gaming community, and are constantly dynamic in our server setup, according to the wants of the members.

The Clan is always willing to accept new members. We have an entire section, namely the ITG (Initial Training Group), who will deal with any applications and be a point of reference for anyone wishing to join the clan. Whether it is your first foray into Internet Gaming or whether you are a hardened elitist, RIP can offer you everything that you will ever need in a Clan. The people are welcoming and friendly, the forums are jovial and lively, the advice that can be given on software / hardware issues is second to none, and Friday nights, should you be of that persuasion, offer some of the best comedy gaming nights you could ever hope for, washed down with whatever your particular poison is. There are internal competitions, based within certain games, though aside from the main format of game play, in the form of Fight Club. We are active in external Leagues, such as ClanBase and TWL, and offer regular competition slots for those wishing to participate. We have elite competition teams, whose sole purpose is to increase the skillsets of the players and work within tight knit squads. We have an Academy section, where you can learn new and advanced skills in your chosen game from any one of a number of experts.

Above all we have secured a place in this digital age where likeminded people get together and have fun. The camaraderie and friendship is what makes RIP one of the best places to be for a total gaming experience. We will continue to grow, due to the structure we have and the democracy that exists. Once you join RIP very few people don’t enjoy their time.

If you feel that your current home or lack of one is driving you to despair, contact any one of the Command Staff, by visiting the Roster and dropping them a PM.

We can perhaps give you what you want and what you need to enjoy your gaming experience to the full.

Through the hard work and dedication of its members RIP has grown into what it has today. People have given up their own spare time, gaming time, to continue to build this great clan of friends. We would like to extend our thanks to all that have participated in this growth, with some special mentions going out to the members we have lost through unconnected issues, you know who you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Family Members

2. Do I need to donate to join the Clan?

3. Do I need to commit to anything?

Family Members

Although the [RIP] Clan insists on members being 21 years old or more, we do have an active family membership. The family members are children or relatives of full members.

In our voice servers we separate family members from full members. This is both to protect our family members from some of the more colourful language of the members and to remove any chance of the family members annoying the adults.

So if you are thinking of joining and want to bring your kids or relatives with you, then we might be what you are looking for.

* to be a full member of [RIP] you must be aged 21 and over, no upperlimit

* all other members younger than 21 will be considered family members.

Family members:

* will use only the family channel in ventrilo and the Fight Club and Academy channels when engaged in such activities. No other channels are permitted

* may not represent the clan in external fights.

Do I need to donate to join the Clan?

You will realise that servers do cost money to provide and it is only through donations that we are able to keep the servers available.

Members donate a minumum of £5 per month to help keep things running. Considering the amount of fun we have that is a very small price to pay. If you are unable, as opposed to unwilling, to contribute you should bring this to the attention of your platoon leader. We are aiming for 100% of members who can contribute to do so, none of our members wish to pay for freeloaders.

Recruits are exempt from donating during their first month probation period, of course we won't stop anyone who wants to donate before one month!

Family members do not donate.

Do I need to commit to anything?

[RIP] is a competitive clan. We organise league competitions within the clan and compete with other clans. Our experience has been that the whole gaming experience is enhance when competing. To be part of a competitive team you would be expected to show up for practice, usually around one hour per week and to show up for matches on a regular basis.

Having said that, we know that it is not always possible to comit the time needed to practice and compete and for that reason we have Territorial Army platoons. If at you dont want to commit to set times each week a TA platoon may be what you need. TA platoons will be offered the chance to take part in internal competitions, but there is no expectation that you have to turn up.

To continue to be considered as a member of [RIP] you do need to make one post in our forums each month. Failure to do so will result in you being posted as missing in action. After a further month you will be removed from the clan.

Whatever your status within the clan we rely on donations. New recruits are not expected to contribute during their probationary month. However, once you are a full member we would expect you to donate to the upkeep of the servers.

Interested ArmA players are invited to visit the servers (filter [RIP] ) and experience for yourself the well run, well admined servers.

Also visit www.rustyinplaces.org and have a look around the forums and say hi in the public section.

It's been a while since Alan's original post, so I thought I would bring the info up to date a little more...

Now in our 6th year, [RIP] Rusty In Places still very much play Arma 2 with our own dedicated server. We mainly play COOP in a very tactical squad/platoon based manner but do on occasions play TvT too. We also have a new Arma 3 private server, which will remain private until the correct admin tools become available. We also play a lot of inter-community games with others such as Tour, TG and a few others, these organised events are usually for 50+ players and happen usually once a month or every other month and are great fun to be apart of.

The multi-gaming clan is now over 18's and not 21 as Alan mentioned above but we still charge a monthly subscription of £5 GBP to cover the cost of servers. However, the first month is FREE if you just want to check us out before committing.

If you are interested in a EU based Arma clan who play tactical COOP on custom made missions, then please come join our server - best night to join is Sunday, if passworded then come on our TS3 and ask for the password. Details are:

SERVER = [RIP] Public Teamplay

WEBSITE = www.rustyinplaces.org

TS3 = ts3.rustyinplaces.org:9987
