What about the 100% real gore? That would probably give some people post tramatic stress.

What do you guys think about the Gore? It IS suppose to be a simulator after all. I'd have to experiance it in game to know if i want it or not. What about you guys? Thoughts?

Well, IMO, right now, adults content could be "allowed", but what about tomorrow ?

I mean take a game like State of Emergency by Rockstar. In this game you can kill hundreds of civilians (it's not the purpose but you can). It's not quite shocking because there's a cartoon-like graphics style. So as soon as you start the game you know it has nothing to do with reality.

But what about ArmA3, CoD11,... ?

Those games will more likely tend to be photo realistic. Will it still be fun to shoot an AI if it (he?) looks like a real person ? If he behaves like a real person, if he cries, bleed,...like a real person ?

I think games have reach a turning point. And WE, consumers, will decide where we want them to go.

The only fact it offers a new expericence does not justify we make fun (coz we will) of slavery, rape or gore. Maybe it's time for us to think a bit about the influence games can have on us.

We all know more sensitive of us have already done really bad things trying to recreate what they've seen in a movie or in a video game.

Do you really think those "new gaming experiences" will improve the way we live in real life ? Do you really think it will have NO impact on younger players ? Because this is a fact, we've failed at controlling sellings of video games. How many teens play GTA4 ? Do you think it will get any better with the improvement of internet ? Do you think illegal downloading will magically be reduced in the future ?

10 years ago we could have required such a thing but in my opinion now it's too late, we can't let video games become some kind of dirty art where all our nastier desires will become true.

Yeah, first time I played GTA IV... I felt bad killing all the cops because they died like real people. Not like in san andreas where it was so fake it was funny.

Dismemberment could be an interesting idea for really large caliber weapons and bombs. Maybe as a next option in "Blood: ___" setting box, so people could chose if they want it or not.

But it's not going to happen anyways..

It makes me laugh to read all these comments about gore etc, wtf do you think happens in real life, aren't simulators supposed to be real? I'm all for people loosing limbs etc, thats not glorifying war, thats bringing home harsh realities!

Go ask a vet whos lost a limb if people should be shielded from the atrocities of war, I guess theyd say "hell let em all have a dose", at least politicians wouldn't be so naive about it all.

As for rape etc, not so sure, depends upon the context and the way it's portrayed, if done correctly and isn't just porn, then maybe, it would be a case by case basis.

ArmA2 is a military simulation, not a "What-about-having-some-fun-on-the-battlefield" simulation...

Actually in most cases body parts separated from the body in war are cut/sawn off by a surgeon. But indeed there's lots of very, very ugly wounds, limbs partially separated from the body, etc.

In my opinion, some more rela-life details in the game would be useful. Just for better simulation of battle field. As for the stress - I should not say that a lot of players will get it. Look at the Fallout 3. I should not say it can be a reason of stress. But, looking at the high-detailed wounds in game, somebody will become more cautious and attentive in real life. Lots of incidents with deaths and wounds happen just because people don't realise how it is to recieve serious injury. And... Maybe, looking at this, more people would realise that war is pain and suffering at first, and "all other things" at second.

When a unit stands 1 meter from a big HE explosion it would look better if it was just deleted (maybe in a "puff" of red smoke) insead of flying 50 meters and end up (dead) with a few scratches, and rifle laying at its feet. It doesnt look very convincing.
