How do I get my units to stand up?

Recommended Posts

As you know when units come under attack they automatically go prone. This is a problem for me because I have designed a whole battle surrounding a small village defended by Earthen Ramparts and Sandbags, the problem is they are a hindrance unless I can get my units to stand up and fire over them?

Does anyone know how I can get them to 'stand and fight', as opposed to just lie on the floor and do nothing.

Also the thing that troubles me is in the campaign and scenario missions the AI really uses tactics and cover, they crouch and move to flank etc... but whenver I make an edited mission the AI just go prone and wait, it takes away the realism for large scale battles in cities etc...am I doing something wrong?

The solution for your first problem is simple - just put the following syntax in the unit's init field:

this setUnitPos "up"

It'll force them to stand.

Your second issue is a bit more complicated, i think. Maybe you can use the Warfare modul - but i don't know what it really does. There was a thread here anywhere...

There are several commands available to tweake the A.I.

Behaviour:

A.I. Behaviour

_unit setBehaviour "AWARE";

or

_unit setBehaviour "COMBAT";

Combat Mode:

A.I. Combat Mode

"BLUE" (Never fire)

"GREEN" (Hold fire - defend only)

"WHITE" (Hold fire, engage at will)

"YELLOW" (Fire at will)

"RED" (Fire at will, engage at will)

_unit setCombatMode "RED";

Unit Position:

A.I. Unit Position

_unit setUnitPos "UP";

I got the message: missing ;

I then copy and pasted the code you wrote and it worked, for one unit. I tried it on an identical unit and it gives me the message :

local variable in local space *sigh* what do I do now?

Hm, then I don't know what's wrong. I use this code in every mission i made without problems. Maybe there has to be a ; behind the code. Otherwise i got no idea what's wrong... :(

You mean: local variable in global space

Well the Editor is a global space.

You can't use local variables in the editor.

A local variable is "_group" or "_vehicle" every variable which starts with a "_" is a local variable.

A global variable is "Group" or "Vehicle"

you can force multiple units to "Stand" by:

Create a Trigger:

Activated by the side of the units you like to stand.

Make the trigger size to cover all units which should stand.

In the trigger On Activation field:

{_x setUnitPos "UP"} forEach thisList;

I tried this and they still just go prone, I put in it on act, and on dea.

I have no idea what those mean...what am i doing wrong this time , I tried putting it in condition, but it said 'type nothing expected bool..which doesn't mean anything :mad:

Hi all,

by the way SNKMAN, does your beautiful GL 3 work in Arma 2?

Do you plan an update?

Cheers.
