Xindar 10 Posted June 21, 2009 There should be some option to disable this combination. Or if you press it you could get some "Do you want to quit?" type of message...
Devinewind 10 Posted June 21, 2009 Thats a hotkey of Windows and isn't under the control of ARMA.
rundll.exe 12 Posted June 21, 2009 They can, Im a noob in this, but even in delphi you could define OnClose{ return false; } or something. A confirmation box or startup command would be even better.
Binary 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Don't press ALT-F4 then. I love it - its perfect for editing.
echo1 0 Posted June 21, 2009 There should be some option to disable this combination. Looking at the keyboard in front of me, I cant really imagine anyway to press it accidentally unless I make a conscious effort to do so. So perhaps a better idea is that you just don't press it... Besides, I find it handy for getting out of ArmA instead of having to trawl through different menus and wait for them to load etc.
rundll.exe 12 Posted June 21, 2009 I happened to me ;) Using alt for free-look and selecting your unit 4.... It happens quite more often that I press alt-tab while free look and switching targets. Should remap my freelook I guess :)
frederf 0 Posted June 21, 2009 Thats a hotkey of Windows and isn't under the control of ARMA. What about all the games that disabled the Windows key or similar to make sure you don't accidentally pop up the start menu? dWinLock and other examples.
galzohar 31 Posted June 22, 2009 In games that use both ALT and F4 I unbind/rebind one of them, even if there is an "are you sure you want to quit?" message. Such a message should be possible, btw, since when you "close" a windows program it doesn't kill the process but rather signal it to exit, which means the process gets to run whatever code it has set for this event. The only thing the programmers can't stop you from doing is going to the task manager and clicking "end process" (which is supposed to be the same as "end task" -> waiting for it to not respond -> clicking "end now, just faster). I've seen programs before that upon pressing the "X" or ALT+F4 would promt for an "are you sure you want to quit?" message.
frederf 0 Posted June 22, 2009 Suppressing the ALT-F4 combination isn't impossible. dWinLock is only a few KB in size and manages all sorts of wonders. http://www.kassl.de/winlock/how-to/disable_alt_f4.shtml
Helmut_AUT 0 Posted June 22, 2009 Agree I like tabbing out for editing or FRAPS benchmarks, but ALT F4 always makes me feel stupid...

I know i should be more careful but sometimes in the battle i dont have time to think about what i shouldnt press. you can't alt+f4 out of COD4, i also have a problem with alt+tab when i'm flying and looking around me for targets to lock onto with tab:( Yeah this problem i have too. I know, i should rebind my alt key but i got used to use it from arma(the same thing happened to me ;) ) Edited July 3, 2009 by Xindar
