oktane 0 Posted July 1, 2010 It's an odd bug, nothing of interest in the server or client rpt. After many crashes, we found that if the player notices a frame rate drop while they're in the ammo box, they can quickly press G again to get out and avoid the crash. You know about the issue caused by server admins using old arma2 bandwidth basic.cfg settings right? When clients try to open the box, they freeze. If BE is enabled, it will kick them off because they are frozen. This was reported by alef in the DH Wave chatbox.
Tankbuster 1733 Posted July 2, 2010 Funny thing is, those boxes are only created local on the clients. Probably some new code in OA which tries to sync and fails, really no idea.Edit: Little update... What I could reproduce was, that when I joined my server again (persistent) I got a major performance drop as soon as I opened the gear dialog (ammobox). So it's definately an error/bug in OA. As ArmA2 boxes with much more content didn't show that behaviour and had no performance drop at all. Happens after mission start too, major performance drop. But no crash. Xeno From what I've seen, the client won't *always* crash. Also, in the hope of being more specific, it isn't a CTD, it's a lockup requiring CTRL-ALT-DEL and killtask. edit* Ah, yes, I forgot, the ammo boxes are client side only. That has to be relevant. ---------- Post added at 08:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:35 AM ---------- You know about the issue caused by server admins using old arma2 bandwidth basic.cfg settings right? toxic-nova 0 Posted July 2, 2010 since yesterday at ammoboxes the game will feeze...but I could avoid this by clearing loadout befor open the box. I had to do this only the first time I wanted to open a ammobox.
xeno 230 Posted July 2, 2010 Stopping development of Dom for now until BIS has adressed the (locally created) ammo crate problem in OA. There are more weird MP bugs in OA like driving downhill and out of nothing you simply die. Xeno
DaveP 66 Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) Another issue experienced, I'm not too sure whether it's a Dom problem or an OA issue (although it seems far more likely to be the latter) involved the rescue the downed heli crew mission; we had a frustrating 15 minutes watching the pilots go to get into our helicopter, standing at the 'ready' position nearby the heli, and just staying there, not doing anything. We tried every permutation of the state of the helicopter, commands, and the men, but they did nothing. I must say, however, that this Dom map has already given us some of our most varied and enjoyable missions and stories, from clever AI ambushes to constant AA engagements, it keeps you on your toes and adapting to a strategic climate that feels totally different from ArmA 2's temperate climate. It feels very much more like you're fighting on their turf and their rules. Edited July 2, 2010 by DaveP

You can either omit the -cfg=basic.cfg param, or get rid of the bandwidth settings by commenting them out in basic.cfg, and the problem disappears. (the freeze issue at base only) (EDIT: The issue persists with dropped boxes?!) Edited July 3, 2010 by oktane

Xeno Yeah, we did, it's all so rather odd although did lead to a quite epic moment when the search 'mob' of men galloped over the hill towards us and we mowed them down with the (by now engine destroyed by an RPG ambush) Heli's minigun
xeno 230 Posted July 2, 2010 OA Only 2.17 Test Release Ammobox performance problems (freezes and crashes) should be gone now with this version. Wrote a workaround for loading an ammobox in the east MHQ. The OA version still uses only OA content so all players can play it and not only those who have ArmA 2 allready. Download: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/domination/files The mission package now includes the following versions: - West - West AI - West Revive - West Ranked - East - East AI - East Revive - East Ranked Enjoy! And have fun... Xeno

7 0 Posted July 2, 2010 Haha! It's a great rifle. Very accurate and with all the stopping power you'd ever need. It's bolt-action mechanism and slow rate of fire really makes you conserve ammo too, since every shot has count.

InfectiousShadow 10 Posted July 3, 2010 Been playing on our server today with about 30 people on 2.17, still experiencing the ammo box crashes and lagging. I didn't experience the problems but we had about half the server crash out at once when someone accessed an ammobox from the MHQ. The game turned into a slideshow after they crashed and then the server crashed.

Hud Dorph 22 Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) Havnt seen the ammocrate bug since ver 2.17 But another thing is the AI-recruitment stops working pretty fast in the ai ver. This also happened in the non-OA ver just seems to happen a lot sooner now. Players who been on the server from start can recruit, but if reconnect recruitment are all over :( Also when happening the "Recruit Barracs" text goes all the way to the buttom left on the map. UGLY58 10 Posted July 3, 2010 Xeno, Thanks for the analysis and I had turned off key signatures as a attempt to diagnose the issue, but thanks for the tip. We will get them back on ASP. Come on BI sort this issue please, we are all trying to use OA but frankly will be ditching it from our server if we can`t resupply correctly. Just when 1.07 made Arma2 nicely stable along comes what is proving to be imo a rushed effort.
