ARMA2 russian thread: questions, issues, solutions.

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

Yesterday in Russia we met official release of Arma2 from our local publisher "Akella". It's a great news, but our happiness was overshadowed by some really big troubles. BTW, these problems are usual for our russian distributors and publishers.

1) Quality of localized version is totally UGLY. My english doesn't let me to say in adequate epithets HOW it was ugly and bad translated.

Some "brilliant" examples, which shows how it's BAD. Here's the russian semantic translation of some things:

- "automatic cannon" in APC/IFV has been translated as "выÑокие обороты", which means(in semantical translation) in russian - "high torque" or "highspeed rotation". I'm LOLed about this!!!

- Spetsnaz engineer with pp-19 Bizon and Satchel has been translated semantically as "mechanic" or "mechanician". That's a COMBAT ENGINEER or SAPPER, but NOT mechanic! WTH!!!

and so on, and so on... In other words, they just insert original text in some translator and push the button.(((

2) Due to Akella's personnel mistake, distributive DVD incorporates BETA version of patch 1.01, instead of FINAL 1.01.

3) From the our past experience we know, how long and slow our local publishers release the patches to localized versions of games, so, mostly we're not able to patch and play MP with all other nations in the same day, when European/US patches has been released(in some cases delay may be counted in months!!!). That's the most sad thing, which happen every time in 90% of cases with russian localized releases.(((((((((((((

In light of that issues i (and not only me) have some questions to Bohemia Interactive.

1) Will it be possible for russian version owners to use the CD-KEY from localized version of ARMA2 with English installation by Steam? Is that key are acceptable for Steam-version?

2) Will be the English patches compatible with russian version from Akella?

3) Should we write and sign some joint petition from russian customers, that, may be, make you help us?

Thanks you in advance, dear BI.

P.S. Another funny thing is that Akella's so called "support" can't answer to us on any question. I have strong feeling, that there is not such support at all. On question about bad quality of translation and possible ways to resolve it with help of russian community one our member has recieved stupid answer with recommendation to uninstall all virtual DVD's from system. Now we think it was e-mail bot...LOL.

Thanks for the info, bro. But anyway, i have really big fear about situation with the future patches for our version.((( In such situation, many of us would prefer an English version, than localized.

Dear God!(or BI!) Make so, that our russian key will be compatible with the Steam-version of the Game. PLEEEEEAAASE :notworthy:
