Overwatch

Which kit load out

Recommended Posts

Brand new to the Arma series and had a very short stint at OFP when I got into pc gaming. Any of you guys have any tips on kit load outs. I'm thinking every good squad needs a heavy gunner so I might opt for a PKM. Failing that a medic role with something quick and accurate to fire like an M4.

Does anyone have any quick weapon stats to hand??

Your equipment is usually limited to what the mission provides you with. Sometimes you get extra options, but mostly it's a matter of taking what you get. At least that's usually the case in single player and many coop missions.

In MP missions like Warfare or CTI you can pretty much choose whatever kit you want. You could go with a sniper rifle and launcher combo, or be a medic with a machine gun. It's all down to your personal preference.

If you'd like to play a specific and more realistic role, I'd recommend participating in a large organised Arma2 gaming event like Charlie Foxtrot. :)

For what it's worth; you can, of course, pick up weapons from fallen enemies and buddies as you go. So you're technically speaking not neccessarely stuck with what you start out with...

Huh, huh... "Charlie Foxtrot"... huh, huh, huh...! :)

Overwatch in most games like CoD and BF you choose a role and maybe even get the change to choose a kit for that specific role?

That is not how it goes with ArmAII the missions are made with specific roles and weapons in mind, you join the mission by selecting a slot that's linked to a soldier or a medic that allready has a kit handed out to it.

Most MP missions are made so you have ammo and weapon crates near the starting position and there you can choose different weapons and such, unless stated otherwise by server admin or your team leader.

As stated, usually you'll be limited to the kit of your assigned squad role. On the bright side, these kits are usually pretty good, especially in ArmA2. For example, now all USMC units appear to be equipped with NVGs by default. There are also light, medium, and heavy AT roles now. You can go here and click on one of the sides to see all the different units and their equipment; it's quite useful: http://www.armatechsquad.com/ArmA2Class/
