Shooting Range map???

Why on earth they didn't include a shooting range in this great game is beyond me. First Arma and now Arma 2.

If someone could make a map like this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3516

To me it's a lot more fun to try the weapons first in a proper shooting range, especialy the sniper rifles.

And I'm not talking about the armory which is still fun but nowhere near the map linked above.

So again, a map like this in Arma 2 would be fantastic. I haven't even began to play the campaign, not until I master my favorite weapons (sniper rifles) and most other items in the armory.

There is a shooting range in the training missions. It's called bootcamp ingame.

Im thinking hes looking for a long range one.. The one in game is prob 100m tops... Which is nothin really. I had to make a range for my unit in ARMA 1... It was a pain and I never finished it. I plan on making a new one for ARMA 2 as it seems they have fixed the bugs with the targets. So... I'll see what i can do about making a range for ya. Only problem really is the only FLAT land is on the airstrips lol.... Gotta love the rolling hills full of trees, but not good for firing ranges :P Unless you want a crazy walking range through the woods with targets popping up out of nowhere freakin you out :P

Man, that would be great. I'll take a look at it too although I'm not as good as the one who made the arma map (perfect for sniperskills)

Hopefully the airstrip goes beyond 1km range and hopefully the ballistics are as good as a modded arma 1.

The above map shows the last target hit point after firing which is very handy. You can use the rangefinder or map to check ranges on targets and are weapons free.

I would'nt even know where to begin editing a show target system like that.

Would be awesome to have a shooting range with targets at pre-defined ranges and have everything available there including all weapons, vehicles, stationary weapons, AT and even AA stuff to practice with and learn their offsets at various distances.

Perhaps use the editor and place pop ups on the airfield in chernagorsk and make the hill to the northeast (same one the radio tower is on) the firing point? You could put targets inside the air tower and obscured ones peeking out of the other buildings/doors. Then you would have your sniping course.

Hello all just noticed this thread I am working on a training map for the 10th SFG and the only hangup I have is a Scored pop up range that works on MP.If anyone would like to help with that I would be happy to release it to the public.It already has a working long range sniper course,Halo,Arti and LD course as well as playable civs and opfor w respawns and a few other things tailored to the way we operate.

If it works in SP, making it work in MP shouldn't be a problem. You should probably post the scripts you're having issues with in the editing forum, that way you can get help regarding how to fix them to also work in MP.

Heres a quick one I whipped up after reading your post.

Nothing fancy but does have distance markers and goes just over 900 meters.

Let me know what you think, if its cool I might clean it up and upload for general release.

Sorry havent figured out how to make things multiplayer yet so this is single player only.

You can switch units as well.

I put one in our GITS version of evolution - in the middle of the airfield - took 5 mins to do.

an ammo box

a flag and barracks

a few bunkers

a range of popup targets at various distances

some back-buffers

and bobs-your-uncle!

you can put this into your own map anytime, e.g.

Always used them. It senses ALL weapons you have (even addons) and you dont need to reload the weapon. It gives you speed and damage info. You can through the action menu move the targets back or forth... It has it all.

Looks like he has an A2 version too, Im checking it out now..looks good!
